What’s it gonna be?

So this morning, Chantale and I went for her second appointment. Basically, her doctor was available if we had questions or had concerns, but outside of that, the visit was more to check Chantale’s weight and blood pressure and listen to the baby’s heartbeat.

And an interesting thing happened while we were listening to that fast little thumpa-thumpa… the doctor made a comment that had both my and Chantale’s eyebrows raised… there was definitely an “indication” or hesitation that made it seem like the baby is a…. …. boy! Of course, we won’t truly know until the Ultrasound in february, but it’s been a bizarre week. A lot of folks who were initially saying/ guessing the baby was a girl, have started changing their minds! (*cough* myself included *cough*)

So, once again, we’ve started wondering. Of course, we already know it’s not an Owl… (points to anyone who gets the MAY reference πŸ˜‰ ) …

My parting comment as we were leaving the office was, “well, if it turns out to be a boy, then we get to go again to try for a girl!” which almost caused Chantale to pee right there and then (yes, that was the kind of shocked look she gave me! LOL!)

2 weeks to go… place your bets…

Dinner Meme

Got this from nightwolfwriter

“Prompted by a post in Unca Harlan’s Art Deco Dining Pavilion, I challenge the group to name the five fictional characters they would most like to invite to their dinner party. In the case of villains, I include the provision that they will not try to kill or eat you β€” and criminals can be free to tell their stories without fear of reprisal. I will also add the provision that characters will appear as they look at any stage of their lives that you prefer, and that smokers (if inveterate) will be surrounded by filters that keep the air sparkling clean. These are not necessarily your FAVORITE characters, but those who would ensure for the finest conversation; i.e., I love the play, but there’s no way on Earth I would spend a few hours being depressed by Willy Loman.”

Here are my five fictional guests for dinner (and reasons why!):

1- Jean-Luc Picard (Come on! the most intelligent Enterprise Captain? How could I not!)
2- Victor Von Doom (The twisted mind of a maniacal genius – the discussion would be boggling!)
3- Batman (Just picturing him trying to verbally trap Doom makes me grin like a fool)
4- Gandalf the White (Who, I imagine, would have quite the Untold Tales to tell!)
5- Londo Mollari (A dinner party is not complete without him… and since G’Kar is his bodyguard and doesn’t go anywhere without him… well, two for one! πŸ™‚ yes, okay, so I cheated a little… πŸ™‚ )

(I think this list shows my bias… but it turned out to be a lot more difficult to do than I first thought! I may have to revise it πŸ™‚ )

Who’s next?

Exhaustion or Extreme Fatigue?

Mentally/ Emotionally, I’m quite good.

Physically/ Emotionally… let’s just say that we went to sleep at 9:30pm last night and this morning I woke up nauseous and with a headache. The train in wasn’t bad, and the -21 cold air helped clear my head a little (outside of it being very difficult to breathe in… I can imagine how bad it is/was for asthmatics). Right now, headache is back stronger than this morning and all I can think about is how much I want to go back to bed…

…that and how desperately I want some chocolate!

Yesterday afternoon was the first time I talked to my parents about “our” funerals. My dad was initially very upset and my mom shocked at my comments about wanting to be cremated… but it very quickly dissolved into various jokes like telling them to put me into their fireplace so at least I could give them heat for a bit… to flushing me or just sprinkling my ashes downtown since I don’t want to be kept in a jar somewhere… to a whole slew of other nonsensical ideas and thoughts.

In my mind, that’s the best way to get over the whole “fear of dying” bit. Because eventually the discussions did get a bit more serious in regards to things like graves, etc (and finding out that when my dad was much younger and still living in Italy, he did build caskets at the shop he worked at – and how my mom would not let him anywhere near her or anything in the house after work until he washed!). We even spoke briefly about the sister I never met… And ain’t it funny that it’s THAT which got to me more than anything else? Weird, hm? Pining for a soul I never got to meet this time around?

*sigh*

Short Update

Hello.

Spoke with my mom last night who told me the funeral was this morning. She made arrangements with my brother to drive her and my dad to it while I made arrangements to meet up with them. Don’t bother trying to find an obit online, it just ain’t there.

My sister is still stuck in Bangladesh with her husband. I don’t remember if I posted about this but it’s been a month now since they had to rush out and they did get there in time for him to say good-bye to his father who passed away about a week later. However, with the situation over there, not only is she probably not going to be able to get on the first flight out SINCE they got there (jan 22nd) but the last time my folks spoke with her last week she mentioned having been locked in the house for 3 days due to the military activity.

I spoke with James this morning who confirmed he’s not on crutches and that he was in a lot of pain once the Local wore off last night. He sounded tired and although he’s still in pain, he’s going to tough it out and try not to take any pain medication unless he really needs it. He’s hoping to get back to school on Thursday and will be spending today doing the homework he was given on Friday. I forgot to ask when he’s allowed to take the bandages off his leg, though. Will check in with him later.

Feels like a really busy week…

A Few Updates…

Due to a bit of miscommunication this morning, James’ operation -scheduled for 7:30am- had to be moved to 10:30am. No big deal, but it does get tiring waiting. It took me over 2 hours to get there due to the weather but I made it in time to see him for an hour before they wheeled him in. The 30 minute procedure actually ended up being over 3 hours in total (an hour to prep, 2 hours for the operation). Due to the weather, I left at noon when they were “about” to begin. It took me 2 hours to get home so I called as soon as I got in and he had just got out. Everything seemed to have gone well and he is being released soon. Poor kid was so tired that even though he chose to get the Local instead of the General, he fell asleep on the table πŸ™‚

I spent close to 5 hours on the road, driving. My back and legs are killing me. Chantale left work at 3pm and she’s still not home. Worse, she couldn’t find the cell phone so I have no way of contacting her…

I’m currently surfing from our new computer… in the bedroom. Set up a wireless router this afternoon. Much time saving πŸ™‚ Plus, with all the dust getting on in the basement, it’ll keep the computer safe, too.

By the by, my uncle passed away on Saturday morning. Still waiting on details. We went to visit my mom that evening. I know it helped my parents to see Kyle. The magic of a toddler πŸ™‚

Okay, enough for now. Have stuff to do…

Halloooo….??

Where the heck is everybody??

Got confirmation this morning that James will be going to the hospital on Monday at 7am for his surgery. Which means that after I drop Kyle off at the daycare, I’m heading over there. I’ll be glad when it’s over. Hopefully, he’s followed our direction and advised his Teachers that he will be out for about 3 days next week and will have gotten them to provide the required homework ahead of time…

Funny Stuff!

Hi. Me again πŸ™‚ I decided to google myself today and read through all the non-bigfoot hits πŸ™‚ I found this ebay auction for VOTT#1 that made me laugh.

“THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE RARE AND UNUSUAL 1995 mint condition comic book:
VARIATIONS ON THE THEME NO. 1
Scarlet Rose Productions
“Confessions”
writer/artist: FRANCISCO MANUEL ROSA
consulting editor: MIKE ARAGONA”

Rare and Unusual?? LOL! Rare I can go with. Unusual? Sheesh! I mean, really! I guess it was unusual because it’s not Superhero fare. It’s about REAL people involved in REAL stories! πŸ™‚

Don’t believe me? Want a copy to check for yourself? Want to own a piece of Small Press Publishing History? Let me know… and I’ll see what I can do πŸ™‚

Okay, I’ll stop soon…

It is the rarest of things to have me updating this often. (shrug)

I called my parents to see how they’re doing. As expected, my mom is shaken enough to be shattered. I spoke with my father again. What news is there to share? Who knows. Maybe my aunt in Italy will call with some. As it is, she calls about twice a day so the two of them can share tears. As for my uncle… well, they moved him to another room on Sunday. And my parents are being denied from visiting him (that’s right, they don’t have permission from knowing which room he’s in or seeing him). Can you f(***ing believe this?

My dad was a little saddened that I hadn’t come around or called to give my mom courage. I explained that it was the first moment I had to breathe and then told him that my Grandfather is waiting for my uncle on the other side, ready to kick his ass for what he did to his life, and the rest of them can go to hell.

Of course my father is hurting because my mom is hurting so much, and yes, when the time comes and my uncle passes, IF they are told about the funeral I might go, but only to support my mother. The rest I could care less about. Seriously.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled blogging, already in progress.
