Huh?

I’m breathing? Huh? I’m not rushed to finish seven zillion things at once, six point nine nine of them being not really important? huh? Must be Thursday.

It’s crazy to think how calendars have cycles, isn’t it? Januaries are horrible due to all the bills coming due. Februaries are crappy with all the money flowing out it to the point that Marches come and you’re broke. It’s isn’t until Junes that you can start to breathe a little easier, and Octobers when you can breathe better.

Same for weeks. Mondays are garbage. It’s where you get it piled onto you. Tuesdays are spent hacking away at them while more continues to fall. Wednesdays are the last-ditch efforts to make a hole large enough to at LEAST be able to breathe. Thursdays are when everything begins to make sense. Fridays are the lenient ones. Saturdays don’t exist because you’re so busy playing catch-up with your real life. Sundays are too bloody short no matter which way you slice it.

*phew*

And I find myself with nothing to say after spending way too long railing at the fact that I had a lot to say but no time to say it in! bleah. And I got off the phone twice already making arrangements for more rushing around. Yegads, Brain!

Wiped.

I can’t believe it’s Friday already. I’ve got TONS on my mind, but literally no time to let it all flood out through my fingertips and onto your screens. I had about 7 posts worth of material all thought up and ready to go… but no way to get it here.

This is March Break. It’s actually quite the great word because not only are the kids on a “break” from school, but I’m on a break from work, too. And considering how things have been at work lately, a little break does a world of good.

Okay, so this will be the quick update post. Firstly, James got out of the hospital Saturday night. I picked him and Melyssa up at 8pm and thus began the first evening of our 9 days together in preparation of taking care of him. He’s on crutches for about 6 weeks and I’ve been taking him to the CLSC daily to get his dressing changed. The hole/ bump in his leg is slowly healing and the swelling has gone down. The pain is not as bad today as it’s been from the beginning and switching him over to Advil from Tylenol on Wednesday has made a good difference. He basically takes 2 pills at around lunchtime and 2 at bedtime. On top of his anti-biotics every 12 hours, of course.

He’s in good spirits and resting well. Heck, I’ve even given him comics to read 😉 Especially after finishing off The Eldest in a matter of days.

Melyssa’s doing good. She’s been quite the helpful little elf as she’s given me a hand with a lot of stuff around the house – not the least of which is helping James, too. Yesterday, she even helped me in the basement for a bit. She’s got a new bed in her room (the bed her Aunt Sylvie in Ottawa had growing up) and she’s thrilled with it 🙂 Her old bed, which was James’ first bed, will be going to my youngest niece Olivia in exchange for her crib so my new daughter will have a place to sleep in later this year 🙂 Wow! What a trail of bed-swapping! 🙂

Kyle… what more can I tell you about Kyle? He’s such a joy and is SO enjoying his week with his older siblings. Every morning, when he sees Melyssa, he cries out for her and for his blocks which he has to immediately play with upon devouring his breakfast 🙂 He had been going to his guardian this week while I continued working the basement. I picked him up early, though, usually after James’ appointment. Today, we all took a “day off” in the sense that he stayed home and my parents came over for lunch. He was thrilled to see his “Nona! Nono!” when they got here which of course makes them very happy 🙂 Like a big little boy, he ate an entire cannelloni for lunch along with half a molanzana, half a muffin, and some applesauce 🙂 He’s sleeping now (having been up since 6am!) but had a great morning. He even picked up another new word today – “Hercules!” – from the bowl he uses for his breakfast cereal 🙂 I think I have the Disney movie somewhere. He’ll probably get a kick out of it whenever I get around to introducing him to it 🙂

Chantale has, unfortunately, been working all week. We can’t complain too much seeing as it Is her last month (although they’ve told her on a number of occasions that they would have hired her full time if she wasn’t leaving on maternity). She’s been having a really tough/ busy week to the point that yesterday, I saw/ spoke with her for the first time after the morning good-bye of 7am at 5pm! It’ll be nice to have her home for the weekend 🙂

I have more to say, but am taking a break right now. I have not taken a break all week so I want to savor the next hour and just unwind. I’ll post more later.

Comicopia 99

Okay, I can hold back no longer! 🙂 Prepare to be amazed. Here is Gabriel Morrissette’s cover for Comicopia 99. This was our “Looking Back” theme issue as we take a moment to pause before our 100th issue! Gaby went a little nuts by putting 42 characters on this cover! They’re all discussing back issues of comicopia and for those of us who’ve been around all those years, they’re having very funny discussions 🙂

Click on the link to take you to the main page to see it larger 🙂

For those of you lucky enough to get a copy of the issue in your hands, prepare to be highly entertained! 🙂

James Update 3

Spoke with James a little while ago. He’s out of surgery and they didn’t put him under, just froze him again. It lasted 30 minutes and he’s back in his room, leg wrapped up, and in a lot of pain. His bandages won’t be touched until Saturday morning after which they will be releasing him. He seemed in good spirits if somewhat groggy (which is understandable). no other news.

Birthday Post

Today is not my sweetheart’s birthday. Unfortunately, it is “somewhat” the day that we celebrate it simply because one of the curses of being born on February 29th means that you only get your REAL birth DAY every 4 years. Needless to say, we ensure the month is used to her benefit 🙂 We’ve actually stayed up until midnight on the 28th every year just to hear the “beep” tone on 940am at the stroke of midnight as she’s often considered that being her birth moment (almost like how an angel gets their wings whenever a bell rings 🙂 ) Her being a leap-year baby is only another item in the long list of items that make up why she is so special to me.

From the first time we met and became friends in 1998, from her heart-warming smile and infectious laughter, to her becoming my best friend in 1999 and eventually my girlfriend mid through that year, she has always brought a wonderful glow to my life. It should NOT be mind-blowing or earth-shattering to think that we’ve been a couple longer than my first marriage lasted, but it is incredible that the more time we spend together, the more time we WANT to spend together!

I do not in any way shape or form see or can imagine my life without her. Add to that the fact that the child we’ve brought into this world and the one(s) still to come only bring us closer together as we add to the Love already in our Home, and you can very well imagine how wonderful a live we have together.

Chantale, amore, I love you so very, very much. I know life’s been very hectic lately what with everything going on, but that in no way negates how special I feel you are and how much you deserve to be pampered and waited-on 🙂 I hope you have a very Happy Birthday. And look! To celebrate, even the sun is shining very brightly today! 🙂

See you soon 🙂

Ranting off.

i’ve been wanting to rant on and off for the better part of the evening, especially after James’ phone call. Heck, in regards to it all, I’ve been wanting to rant pretty much since last friday night.

however, i realize that i’m quite exhausted just by the fact of the items and person which would cause me to rant. and thus, being too exhausted by the sheer frustration of the situation, i resort instead to silence.

so, let’s pretend that i’ve ranted over everything without actually really doing so and the end result is the same. i’ve gotten it off my chest.

life goes on. best to go with it.

James Update 2

Where’s the icon where I’m slapping my forehead? I should create one…

I just got off the phone with James so I figured I’d post an update.

He just came back from seeing the Doc’s who basically confirmed that the infection he’s been fighting in the leg he was operated on (since Jan 15th) needs to be operated on again to remove it. Yes, he’s been pretty much on-and-off anti inflammatory pills since the operation and last week his checkup revealed that his skin was growing “outwards” from the hole. Interesting, hm?

So, anyhow, he’s going back into the hospital on Tuesday night and is being operated on very early Wednesday morning (the 28th – Chantale’s birthday!). He’ll be there for a couple of days and will be released either on the friday or the saturday. either way, he then falls into my care for the week of March break so at least I KNOW he’ll get full care, attention, and rest.

Hm. I just realized something else. Karine, dear, if Samuel decides he’s only coming out next week, well then we’ll already be at the hospital visiting James when you come in! 🙂 (Yup, same place 🙂 )

That’s it for now. Ciao.

Just because…

Mike & Chantale

I love the fact that our photographical life together expresses the love we feel for each other and our life together 🙂

What a beauty my wife is… 🙂

Wow!

I’m holding the covers to Comicopia 99 in my hands… WOW!

Jay Willson’s cover (inked by Gabriel Morrissette) is a hell of a lot of fun. Gabriel’s cover (inked by Jay) is filled with SO many Comicopia-in-joke-moments as well as being CRAMMED with characters, that I’m just stunned. Wow.

I’m not going to upload those covers until next week (after the issue has been put to bed and mailed off to members), but I just HAD to post about it today. WOW. Seriously!
