Okay, what the vf**?

I’m so antsy, nervous, angry, and edgy today that I feel like I’m waiting for a building to fall or something.

DAMN!!

I’m edgy… really edgy. To the point where I almost feel a need to hit something… break something… and I don’t know why! I actually had a really nice morning and even got to spend some nice time and wonderful moments with Chantale and Kyle at breakfast!

And yet, I’m here at my desk, and I’m stewing. And for once, there’s nothing that’s happened here to cause that!!

Maybe I’m still partially upset at the fact that my client admitted yesterday that the cheque he told me he had mailed out on the 15th was still in his basket yesterday! Maybe I’m a little aggravated at the wireless setup I have at home being wonky for the last week. Maybe I’m a little grumpy from the stupid dreams I’ve been having for the last two weeks. Or maybe it’s all related together. Everything and Nothing.

Either way…. ARGH.

*deep breath*

Let’s see if coffee helps…

Okay. Everyone’s real quiet today. And I’m antsy. So, because it was the last one I saw, blame vonandmoggy for this Movie Meme.

Ooooo!

Look at that rain fall! Ooooo… pretty! *gak* I’m glad I brought an umbrella.

And it’s nice to be sitting next to a window with a view again (up on the 11th floor!) πŸ™‚

(for the record, I love the rain. I love to be in bed slowly falling asleep as it pelts against my windowsill… πŸ™‚ )

Hotel Aragona

Welcome to the hotel Aragona…
Such a lovely place (such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They’re livin’ it up at the hotel Aragona…
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise), bring your alibis…

I’ve been thinking about music lately (not like that’s a big shocker) and was remembering another line from Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, specifically: “Some boys take, a beautiful girl, and hide her away from the rest of the world…”

And you know what? When I see “my” girl hurting and emotionally suffering like she’s been recently, I totally agree to the spirit of that line. *I* want to hide her away from everyone who’s hurting her. Every. One.

Especially those who don’t understand or can’t get it through their heads that – besides the fact that she’s the woman I love and care about – she’s carrying our BABY and that’s another added stress on her! She should be spending her “free” time such as it is resting and being pampered, NOT falling over herself trying to appease everyone else.

Got it?

Melyssa

Got another call from Melyssa. She’s at my parents’ today. Turns out she has a nasty little throat infection (which was obvious to me that there was an infection somewhere considering her having a fever at night and okay during the day… for 3 days). They apparently went to 2 CLSCs last night trying to be seen, but they were all full. At any rate, she’s got some “nasty white bumps” on her throat and is on anti-biotics for 10 days.

Something funny going on there…

No Charity

Well, turns out the minor contract I had accepted did not pan out. My client decided that it was too costly. Figures. This was the fourth contract I had with him and during each previous one I had given him a reduced rate, explaining the reasons why I was doing that. At the end of each contract, I informed him that my standard rate would be applicable going forward. Thus, when the estimate was given, it was too much for him. I guess it makes a difference when it’s not something that’s being covered by a third party πŸ™‚

So, instead of working last night, Chantale and I enjoyed a quiet evening after Kyle went to bed. He had been somewhat agitated all day and thus supper time was somewhat of a struggle and bedtime routine was extremely bumpy. In the end, however, after being changed and put into pjs, teeth brushed and back in his room, he was quite upset at the thought of bed. I know that look and having him yelling and trashing about on the floor meant one thing: he was exhausted beyond understanding. So, I cradled him and held him tight against me, slowly rocking him and humming to him while he continued wailing and rubbing his blankie on his face. Chantale joined us and she sat in front of us and stroked his hair while I continued rocking and humming. Pretty soon, he was completely calmed down and snuggled against me.

It reminded me of how much I loved rocking him to sleep at night and just HOW much our routine has had to change in the last few months. No longer do I sit on the rocker with him and sing/ hum while gently rocking him. Nowadays, he sits on the rocking chair and reads to me and when it’s time for the final routine, I pick him up and we look out the window, singing to the moon and stars before finally setting him down in his bed. sigh. They grow up so quickly and I think the reason is that it happens so gradually that you don’t realize it until something triggers the fact that it’s happened… and then you wonder how they grew up so quickly… πŸ™‚

Why can’t I be paid to stay home and raise my children? πŸ™‚

Talk Talk

I just got off the phone with Melyssa. Poor little girl called me from home, crying because she had a really bad headache and a fever that kept her from school πŸ™ We spoke for a bit and she filled me in on her weekend and the fact that the fever’s been up and down and right now she was in a lot of pain and she’s only taking Tylenol every 6 hours. I told her not to wait for 6 hours but to take it every 4 as well as drinking a LOT of water plus at least two glasses of orange juice. On top of that, she needs a lot of rest. Within a few minutes she was no longer crying and we chit-chatted briefly (she doesn’t like having to wait until the 30th to see me again). sigh. (her not feeling well plus the big storm of Saturday morning meant that I was not able to pick them up this weekend. it’s not too bad considering I had them all last week for 8 straight days, but still…. I would have loved to have them again…)

In other news, Kyle was finally introduced to Monsters Inc. this Saturday. Let me tell you, he absolutely loved it! He was glued to those guys constantly asking to watch the movie again and again and again (although we didn’t comply. after all, he needs to learn that television is not “life” and we watch movies for entertainment – not to always have the set “on”). It was really nice to see him enjoying himself that way. In fact, it’s the first movie he’s loving so much! The only other show he’s ever asked for on a regular basis (and which we are STILL watching) is Frosty the Snowman! πŸ™‚ In this regard, it’s been somewhat of a quiet weekend which was nice. Especially as Kyle’s 18th-month vaccination shots done on Thursday were starting to affect him. He was showing signs of a cold yesterday and looked miserable. A very long afternoon nap helped him. But, he went to bed a little late because of it and thus we left the house later than expected this morning πŸ™‚

Add to that the fact that Chantale and I slept really badly last night and you’ve got a very tired SavageKnight (I’m fighting off a headache myself right now…) I won’t be catching up on my sleep in the next couple of days either as I accepted another contract yesterday which needs a delivery by Wednesday night. I’m not complaining – I need the money to pay off bills and it is helping…

Again, I had more to say but can’t think what that was right now…

News for those who don’t know

Simply because a few folks have started posting about Mark Shainblum’s new webcomic, I figured I’d let you know that Mark became a very proud papa on Sunday March 11th! His (and wife Andrea’s) baby girl Mayia Gabriella was born at 3:34am πŸ™‚

In other comics news, The Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards are now open for voting! Head over to http://www.joeshusterawards.com and cast your vote for the best 2006 Canadian talent as selected by the 2006 Nominating Member Panel. By the way, this year, the category of Canadian Webcomics was also added (not nominated by the same panel)

One important point I’d really like to make -> The BD Creators who are on the ballots: if you’ve never heard of them, do yourselves a favor and go google their work. You’ll be amazed at the quality you find.

My sincerest wish has always been that the voting public would actually take the time to investigate those nominated in order to make an informed decision instead of only voting for who/ what they know.
