The New Floodgates of the Mind

Remember last year when I wrote an entry about how I was reading the paperback of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower IV: The Wizard Glass on the train and someone sat next to me and pulled out the same book? I thought how freaky that was and said to him “what are the chances of THAT?” as I showed him the cover of my book. An older book, being read in paperback format, and we had about 2 pages difference in where we were.

Today, I’m on the train reading Dark Tower V: The Wolves of the Calla in hardcover, and a guy sits next to me and says “what are the chances of THAT?” as he pulls out the same book but in trade format! What a bizarre little world… 🙂

Weekend’s over. I must admit it was really great to be able to spend all of Saturday working on finishing up my Comicopia section. Chantale worked on her system, I worked on mine, and Kyle slept (mostly). A relaxing and enjoyable day. Sunday, we took Kyle to church for the first time and he slept through it like a little trooper 🙂 The rest of the day went through in a groggy blur as friends came over to visit, I picked up the kids earlier, and family came over to visit. Supper was really good and really tasty. Afterwards, Chantale worked on her site while I scanned in Melyssa’s contribution to Comicopia’s 15th Anniversary issue 🙂

Kyle, who’d been sleeping so much this weekend, woke up at 3am and was wide awake for too long. I finally managed to drowse him back to sleep by 4:30am. Of course, there was no way I was able to wake up at 5:30am and ended up staying in bed for another hour, only catching the train at 7:40.

The workday, not totally overwhelming, is showing too much signs of workload increase. Basically, any time that may have been recovered after this major project goes live, is now going to be taken up with a load more of work… oh boy…

I don’t think it’s too early to state that I’m looking forward to Christmas. I am. Especially as this will be the first year in I don’t know HOW many that I will be on vacation between Xmas and NY’s. In fact, for 5 days of vacation, I will actually end up being away from work for 12 days! HOLIDAYS! Days in which the whole family will be together! Kyle’s 1st Xmas will be spent with the kids AND Chantale at the house as well, AND a real tree 🙂 And with me there, too, you can be sure there will be plenty of Xmas baking! 🙂 *happy sigh* Yes, I’m indulging. It gives me something to look forward to… 🙂

It’s getting cold out there.

The last couple of weeks, yes, it would be chilly waiting for the train at 6am. But, by the time I got downtown, the weather would be fine. Not so today. I was chilled in the West, I was cold downtown, and I was starting to shiver walking to work! eep. Guess it’ll have to start being jacket weather from now on…

Comicopia news!

I got a couple of extra pin-ups for the anniversary issue! Totally unexpected but really nice! Both by “Friends of Comicopia” 🙂 Definitely made me feel like dancing 🙂 Also, I’ve already tallied 114 pages of material and I still have 5 sections to receive! I guess having 2 new members does help, too 🙂 This anniversary issue is definitely going to be a “corker” 🙂

Okay, time for coffee and some warming up…

My Web Hosting package was increased yesterday. I went from having 500Meg storage and 10 email boxes, to 2Gig storage and 50 email boxes. Hokey smokey! Now that’s a lot of power! 🙂 I can spend all day sending myself emails! 🙂

James’ baseball team (Laval-North Cubs) was second in its division (Mosquito B) with an 11-3-2 standing. cool on them 🙂

One of the nicest things I love about having kids is the knowledge that one day, you’ll be able to share with them the things you love. Be it a favorite book, movie, song, or whatever, just sharing something important or that you like with little beings that you love -hoping they’ll enjoy it as well- is precious. I had a lot of moments like that last week and one particularly stands out for me. I don’t remember what day it was, but we were all gathered in the living room and Chantale nudges me to look over on the couch. There were all three kids: James and Melyssa sitting, with and Kyle sleeping next to them. It was a nice moment made more so by the fact that we were all watching SLIDERS on DVD, a show I loved watching when it first came out (and that James barely remembered seeing as he was only 3 at the time 🙂 )

It’s wonderful having children 🙂

In semi-related news, Kyle didn’t seem to get enough proper sleep during the day yesterday. Thus, he was quite cranky at night. We finally decided to give him a bath (as he loves water) and after feeding him, he finally fell asleep at around 9pm. Seeing as how Chantale and I were both exhausted, it wasn’t long before we joined him (10pm). He didn’t wake up until 1am. When I got up to change him, I was sure it was something like 3am. Quite happy indeed when I saw it was only 1am 🙂 Within 20 minutes, he was sleeping again. This time, he did wake up at 3:20am and then at 5:45am. This seems to be somewhat of a routine for him. Sleep a good four hours upon first lying down at night, and then do shifts of between 2 to 3.5 hours. There’s no choice but to adjust to it. Heck, this morning was the first time in a long time that I didn’t feel like the Walking Dead upon Waking 🙂

Doesn’t mean I’m not looking forward to the weekend, though… 🙂

just sitting here in the dark trying to calm Kyle down. He’s overly tired but can’t sleep and suffering from extremely bad diaper rash. Pediatrician cleared up some misconceptions today and prescribed some cream for him. Here’s hoping it works quickly.

I felt like I haven’t been online in a while, and sure enough, my last post was August 4th. Wow. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say or share, but more that I’m too busy to even get online. Last week I was working 7:30am-3:30pm just so I could be home for Chantale and Kyle earlier. This meant my workload was quite high and didn’t leave me much time to take lunch much less go online. Since then, I’ve been on “vacation” which I have to demystify. It’s not vacation, it’s time off from work. There’s a big difference.

Anyhow, most of my thinking energy (outside of the kids and Chantale) has been on prepping for the 15th Anniversary issue of Comicopia. Deadline is less than 2 weeks away which means I fall into my very busy stage of gathering everyone’s stuff, preparing the covers, getting the editorials taken care of, etc. All this on top of trying to finish my section. So, anything I’ve wanted to say about Kyle since the actual birth has all been pretty much amalgamating in my head for inclusion in Comicopia. Unfortunately, I’ve been having a hell of a time getting a chance to sit in front of the computer and close my section. Whatever.

On another note, I wanted to simply add that I’ve finally gotten around to revamping my “Parenting” web site. The new look can be found over at www.aragona.info. Nothing really new has been added, but now that the format looks better, I can go ahead and start populating the image banks again 🙂 Let me know if you like the new look 🙂

So, my Writing site is done, Chantale/Kyle’s site is up and running, and my Parenting site is done. What’s left web wise: Chantale’s main site, Scarlet Rose Productions, and, finally, savageland.com, my main site (with some of its offshoots like my Convention pages). Lots of work, but I must admit to a great feeling of satisfaction upon delivery of each site 🙂

And now, with Melyssa and James who’ve finally finished taking their showers, it’s time to give Kyle a bath (after which I will jump in the shower myself to wash off this heat! 🙂 )

Okay, enough rambling. Time to jet. Ciao.

I managed to update all the convention reports on my writer’s page. Also ended up including the report I wrote and submitted to Zocalo on the Richard Biggs panel during Primedia 1997. Since Katana went offline and I couldn’t find it anywhere, I configured it and uploaded it on my page with the rest. I should have all the other sections completed by the end of the week. Tonight I have to fix some links with my Parenting page…

Speaking of convention stuff, Stan Lee has agreed to be the Guest of Honor at the 2006 Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon! Francisco, it looks like we’re going on another road trip April 28 to 30, 2006! 🙂 Go to Scoop for more information.
