Sleep Deprived

But, I can’t blame my son for that. Nope, I’ve been staying up a little too late every night working on the writer site revamp. I finally got it the way I want it and am actually quite pleased with it. The new front template is up and I’ve setup the “new” articles in that format. Now, I’m going to convert all the old articles into the new layout and then I’ll be happy again 🙂 I just figured it was time for me to put together a much more professional-looking site.

You can find it at SavageWriter.info. Please tell me what you think, if you have a minute…

time out

I’ve been catching the very early train this week so I can technically leave earlier and get home sooner to my family. I don’t think it should come as a suprise to ANYone that I would rather be at home with my family right now than be at work. I’m off next week again so will be home, but it’s a little tough getting through this week what with the sleep interruptions and just knowing I have such a beautiful wife and child waiting for me at home… *sigh*

My horroscope for today told me to take time for myself. It mentioned that I wouldn’t be able to get any headway today and should plan a social outting and just take time. So, I’m heading out to the early bird special at Cora’s tomorrow morning and spent some time reading more Sinfest strips. What a blast to be able to read them from the beginning and I’m only up to March 2004 🙂 Just can’t get enough… 🙂 And speaking of sleep, strangely enough I haven’t been napping in the train. I’ve been working on Comicopia and taking down notes and it’s been giving me such a boost that I’ve stayed awake. Again, proof on how much I love being involved in this incredible sucker that’s turning 15 Years Old this month!

Last night I got to working on the web page layout for my articles. One of the good things about having so many separate sites is the ability to give each its own distinct flavor and give each section its own overhaul when necessary (as I did last year with Comicopia last year). Although I haven’t fully decided on the presentation of the actual articles, I have decided on a proper entrance page to it. When done (probably tonight at this rate) the Savage Writer site will look much better. I may end up keeping the .info site after all… we’ll see.

Anyhow, I’ve got MY performance review to get psyched for as well as another meeting. I have an idea of what to expect but we’ll see what happens afterwards… For now, I’ll keep enjoying my Coffee Crisp Coffee and reading 🙂

Quick Hello!

Hello again! Things have been very, very nice at home, I must say. It’s been wonderful to simply devote all my time and energy to making sure the “family” is doing well. Kyle’s been rather great with his schedule and basically going for two to three hour intervals of sleep during the night in between feedings. During the day, he sometimes goes for only 90 minutes but it’s a little less “painful” when the sun’s shining in to help keep us awake 🙂

I picked up James and Melyssa last night and they’ve been by Kyle’s side pretty much every chance they could. They both got to enjoy holding him today and Kyle has been fascinated by their faces as they all just sit around staring at each other 🙂 Kyle seems to have about two periods during the day where he’s wide awake and alert for about an hour or more and just seems to take in every face that’s close to his 🙂

Have to rush, but wanted to post two pictures for now. The kids enjoying a nice little moment and a “Thank-you” picture for Arin who’s gift has been making every feeding SO much more enjoyable (and less painful on Chantale’s back) 🙂 Click on the images to get to the larger-size ones in the LJ Gallery!

Isn’t it Wonderful?

As I mentioned last night, we’re home and it is wonderful 🙂 Everything feels so “good” and having had Chantale’s mom, sister, aunt, and grandmother pop in last night for a whirlwind cleaning of home and feeding of us before running out and leaving our new family alone to rest was really appreciated. Chantale and I have been following Kyle’s schedule today so after we all had breakfast at 7am, we managed to fall back to sleep at 8am and Kyle only woke up NOW at noon! Thus, I took this moment to send up some new pictures and call back the CLSC to tell the nurse she’s more than welcome to come over for a visit this afternoon 🙂 Talk more later and in the meantime enjoy the images (reminder that clicking them will take you to the larger ones 🙂 )

Day 1

Today was quite an interesting day for Kyle as he got to meet and see quite a lot of family including his older half brother and sister. Everyone was in good spirits and we especially enjoyed our evening visit with some dear friends whom Kyle will definitely see a lot of while growing up :). After visiting hours, he went into some kind of growth spurt (although truth be told, it started at before supper) where he would feed for around 45 minutes, sleep for half an hour and then wake up ravenous to start the cycle again. Obviously this is quite difficult on Chantale as she’s the only one who can do anything. Moral support can only do so much but at least I can get results from the nurses (when they’re not oggling me, of course)

Anyhow, I prepped the cot and will be sleeping (or at least laying down some times) in the room. I do hope we can leave tomorrow night as we all would be happier at home even though we don’t have as many drugs as they do here… 🙂

The Little Man of the Hour!

It’s now 25+ hours since this amazing trip of discovery began! I’m at home mainly because there was absolutely no place for me to stay at the hospital tonight (it’s been nuts there!) and because I really needed to crash. Chantale seemed to be in good hands and we decided I needed to get a few hours sleep because, really, 2 hours in 24 is just not realistic 🙂

At the same time, of course, I’m taking this chance to introduce everyone to our beautiful new son 🙂 If everything goes well, we should all be coming home Sunday night. Monday morning at the latest 🙂 I’m certain that when Chantale gets the time, you’ll all be able to read about our incredible experience. Until then, say hello to Kyle 🙂 Remember to click on the actual images to get bigger pictures! 🙂

Update 3

…Because Chantale already gave update 2 🙂

4pm checkup found her dilated at 7cm :). A 3cm jump in just two hours 🙂

Obviously, she’s quite tired, even with the napping we were able to do earlier. But, we’re just that much closer to meeting our new baby (the cart is already in the room ready to measure, weigh, tag and test him :))

And, throughout all this, she still looks great 🙂
