Family Time

Chantale came back on Saturday with new medication and more powerful antibiotics to help fight the tonsillitis. They really did the trick because as of yesterday, she was actually able to eat! She even got her voice back yesterday morning.

So, although we had to cancel our trip up north, this time at home has also been special as it’s always a complete joy to spend time with Kyle. Charlize is slowly integrating as well as she’s awake more often now so she’s become part of our “chats” 🙂 Kyle, though, really blows me away. It’s sometimes impossible to realize that he’s only two years old! As I’ve mentioned before, he’s fully potty trained and does not have any accidents overnight! In fact, if he really needs to go, he’ll get up and come get me to help. He knows when he needs to go and has also held it in during times that we couldn’t get to a bathroom (like in the car!)

On top of all that, he’s just the brightest little kid I know. He’s very talkative and very easy to understand. He easily strings together 5 to 6+ word sentences (papa, want yogurt for breakfast – not milk, just yogurt), and he negotiates like a true pro (have supper then watch little bit lightning mcqueen and then brush teeth and go do-do, okay daddy, okay!). Heck, he even counts on his own in english and french (and with help, italian) and knows the alphabet (both in speaking and in recognition)! All this and the little bundle of energy still loves to spend time playing cars and building bridges with me as well as cuddling when watching something he likes.

Let’s just say (again – because I think I have said this quite often already) that if I could afford to be a stay-at-home dad, I would in a heartbeat. In fact, considering (again) what I know of the public school system, I’m a little weary about what kind of experience he’s going to get. Father’s Pride or not, he certainly seems a lot more advanced than what is normally taught for his age!

Anyhow, just wanted to pop in here and put down my words, thoughts, and feelings about how much I love my family. At the same time, I think I just realized that I hadn’t posted the link to the Halloween photos on my site so I decided to share that as well 🙂 Click on the image to go see the rest!

Another Historic Moment!

Just watched the A380 land in Montreal. Not in person, but the next best thing: Live TV Coverage (where you can see all the angles and get inside! 🙂 )

Reminded me of the time I watched the Shuttle ride in on its piggyback plane (that time I was walking to the bus stop and saw it above me!)… and the time I watched the concorde visit for its first time, too!

I love Aviation!

November Fatigue

Ya know… I think this is the first November in something like 5 years that I’m not worn out because of NaNoWriMo. In fact, it’s about that long since I’ve been doing NaNo. However, as I’m not doing it this year (waaaay too many committments, plus launching a new book on October 31st…) it is not the reason for my fatigue. That joy falls to Kyle and Charlize who -although both have great schedules individually- have conflicting sleep schedules.

Add to all this no small amount of stress from… places I’d rather not talk about, and you get a very aggravated Savageknight.

As you can probably tell, the mini-vacation up north did not happen this weekend. Fatigue and illness are to blame and, unfortunately, Chantale’s tonsilitis. Her case is so severe that here we are, two days later, and she’s feeling just as bad with extra pain from ears and swallowing. How much extra? She headed back to the clinic a little while ago. Her infection got worse and I believe they are now going to attempt to drain some of the pus from the swelling.

If this doesn’t work, there will be a tonsilectimy in her very near future…

Gotta go. Kids need me.

Quiet Glance

I realize that I’ve been… quiet for a while now. I just find myself being somewhat… tired a lot which has led me to being more of a lurker on LJ than an active participant. There have been times that I’ve wanted to say something, but the moment literally “passes”. It’s not just LJ, though. It’s pretty much all online activity. I’m really hoping this upcoming weekend getaway will help recharge my batteries.

On the book front, things are going great! I’ve sold a lot more books than I actually expected to in such a short time and it’s been really nice autographing them all 🙂 I’m trying to remember if I’ve signed more novels already than the number of SRP comic books that had been published in the late 90s 🙂

Anyhow, I wanted to pop in here and wave “hello” and share the cover of the latest issue of Comicopia (103!) with everyone. It’s a nice looking piece, that’s for sure 🙂 Give it up to Alan Porter and Jay Willson!! 🙂

Realization

I “just” realized that I’m running on fumes.

Barely getting 4 hours straight sleep a night for about a month now… busy as all hell with family, home, publishing, work… practically braindead on the train to/ from work… at this rate/ point, I do not believe i will have the energy for Expozine on the 24th… which is a damn shame. I’ll probably stop in and visit, but I won’t be able to setup a booth…

November 9th can’t come soon enough. a 4 day vacation is better than the 30 minute slumber i sometimes fall into on the train…

Pimping It

Okay, I’ve been sufficiently smacked around tonight (thanks Chantale, thanks Von) and am thus re-stating something I wrote a few days ago, but with more emphasis on what’s important.

My first NOVEL has officially been published through lulu.com

As my wife so delicately puts it, “this is a champagne moment.” So, come and celebrate! 🙂

And, as Von says, “holy shit, folks, my first book is out! Go take a look NOW!”

I guess as much as I enjoy pimping my friends, I have a bit of difficulty pimping myself 🙂

I’ll do better next time. Because there will be a next time. Just head over to http://www.savageland.com/publishing to see the next two planned books 🙂

You can order The Anti-Bodies directly through lulu.com at this link: http://www.lulu.com/content/868406

Going… Going…

Want to own some Rare and Important Books, Photographs, & Autographs? Chantale’s Uncle runs an Auction House and I’m always SO amazed at the stuff he gets to auction off. Last night was the latest run and I’m curious to see what the Realized Prices were compared to the Estimates expected. It’s obviously a little too late now, but the next time there’s one coming up I’ll post about it here. Maybe someone will be interested. After all, if you head over to their website at http://auctionhouseheinze.com/ you can download the PDF of the bid items. Go ahead, take a look.

Wow, eh? 🙂 Some of those book editions… I would love to hold them for a few minutes, even if I couldn’t afford them!! 🙂

I love Old Books and Canadiana simply fascinates me.
