    Never Free…

I realized yesterday that I am so wrapped up in the numerous projects that I love that I don’t really have a “free” moment. Seriously, that’s a little twisted. I’m free to pick and choose what I work on and I realize there is both SO much to choose from, and SO much I want to do that I literally have little to no time to do NOTHING.

Crazy, eh? I love all this but am definitely looking forward to a vacation!

All this came to head with a forgotten deadline that I have for Wednesday which means a review of over 200 pages of material with only a couple of hours a night! On top of Comicopia #107’s deadline in 2 weeks for which I still have a ton of tasks to do! On top of the planning of schedules for the next volley of books.

all this, of course, not counting the 11 projects I’m managing at the day-job…

And you know what else I realized today?? I have to get in another shipment of books soon because even though I prepared for more than double what the pre-orders were… I’m dangerously short! I was reminded of this fact when I made an unexpected sale while chatting someone up. He looked over the book, read the back, was a little worried about a “wrong” word, laughed in relief when I pointed out that it’s a Superhero Parody so those kinds of things just work better, and then continued to laugh out loud as he read about the Minute-Men and their powers 🙂 Let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like having someone enjoying your work while you’re standing right there! 🙂

By the way, for those of you who know Paul (Astro Books) the word is that he’s doing much better. He’s out of the Hospital and is now in Rehab where he’s re-learning his body. So, he’s slowly recovering from his stroke. He doesn’t know about Rory yet, though.

    Gotta run. Talk later.

    New Book Release!

Hello everyone! Another year, another project! 🙂

I wanted to let you know that my superhero parody novel is finally ready for distribution! So, for the comic book fans in your life, The Mysterious Minute-Men Omnibus is now availble for purchase! Here are the details and cover for the book:

Description: Not all Superhero Teams are the same, and when it comes to the zany adventures of The Mysterious Minute-Men, the differences are all part of the fun! Funnier than a barrel of monkeys – and probably just as powerful!

From the Back Cover: The Mysterious Minute-Men: Protectors of Metro-City. Heroes who have banned together in order to be a stronger, more powerful force for fighting crime, dishonesty, and parking tickets, in a city that sometimes seems besieged by evil.

The Mysterious Minute-Men are: Minute-Man, Leader and guiding force, with more powers than he can remember; Orion, Second-in-Command, with a strength and vocal force as strong as his appetite for donuts; The Bow-Minator; newcomer to the team, with more trick arrows than he can carry.

Together, with the occasional help from other luminaries such as; PowerHouse, man-mountain of muscle; Miss Fury, secret intelligence agent; Blaze and Zorra, super-powered private eyes; and The Transistors, protectors of the cyber-world; they help to keep the city streets clean, always making sure the city workers sweep up the trash after hours.

They keep vigil over a city threatened by the likes of The Sons & Daughters of Die T. Cola, M.O.M, and the true evil genius, The Diabolical Chef Jacques.

This Omnibus Edition collects all the early serial adventures along with specials, b-sides, and rarities from their zany adventures. You might not learn what their powers are or how they got them… but you will believe… heroes can be FUNNY!

Cost: The book can be purchased from lulu.com (http://www.lulu.com/content/2271935) for $20.00 (locals can get their copies from me). You can preview the book online by following the link!

Reminder: My first novel, The Anti-Bodies: Heaven Can Wait is always available. Details and cover follows:

Description: Michael thought he had it all – great family, great home, great life. In the blink of an eye, he lost it all… or did he? Finding himself stuck between life and death, he refuses to give up what is most precious to him. *Mature Readers* *Language* *Violence*

From The Back Cover: Michael Andolini heard what he had been told, but refused to believe it. He had too much to live for, too much going on in his life. A brand new home, a beautiful wife and daughter, a perfect life! There was no way he could be dead!

The four so-called spirits trying to convince him that it was no use simply gave up too easily. They hadn’t tried hard enough to find a way back. He would. And he did not care how long it took. As long as his body continued to breathe, he had a chance.

Michael believed in the triumph of good over evil. He believed in the power of love to move mountains. He believed in the impossible.

Those beliefs would now be put to the ultimate test.

Nothing would stop him from finding out why he was attacked, who the Anti-Bodies were, why they were linked to him, and… was his daughter really psychic?

Cost: The book can be purchased from lulu.com (http://www.lulu.com/content/868406) for $15.00. Locals can purchase their books through me. As above, you can read the first 10 pages online.

Thank you for all your support and encouragement!

    Mother’s Day Round-Up

I didn’t have a chance to post yesterday, so I’ll take this moment to run through a quick update on the weekend. First off, Saturday night was one of the worst ones I’ve had in a looong time. I was so wiped from the day that at 1015pm I decided to take a bath and go to bed. Of course, before I was done, Kyle started whimpering/whining/crying… and didn’t stop until 130am!! That’s how long it took to calm him down and get him to fall back to sleep. The reason?? Unknown. And then… Charlize took over. She woke up and wailed from 130am until 330am. Reason? Probably teething, with a touch of gas… but who knows for sure? And then, it was 6am and time to get up.

I had such a massive headache that I had to pop some migraine advil gelcaps just to be functional. A quick breakfast and rush get-ready hour later and I had everyone packed in the car and heading off for Kyle’s swimming lesson. This week, I wasn’t going to go in with Charlize and would instead enjoy watching him. A few blocks later, i realize I forgot the camera and turn around. No problem, still enough time. We get to the pool at 815am – plenty of time for the 830am class. As we’re getting out of the car… I realize NO ONE brought in the bag. No change of clothing, no diapers, no snacks, and no towel. And absolutely no time to go back and get it. After a morning of hell, it was (literally) crushing to me to be missing out on something I’d been looking forward to all week. So, since I had to get James and Melyssa back to laval by 10am (a point which I had been warned/advised only about… ooh, I don’t know, 15 times already ferchristsakes) I decided to just take them back then.

I get them back by a little after 830am all the while Kyle crying that he wanted to go swimming. And then, we get there and James asks me to wait because he had to get something really quickly. I figure it’s a card since tomorrow’s my birthday and I won’t see them again until the following weekend (and besides, Melyssa gave me her card that morning) and he shows up… with an Almond chocolate bar. “With my non-existant allowance, this was all I could get you,” he shrugs. And again I’m reminded how none of the money I shell out to his mother every month actually goes to them.

Kyle, Charlize, and I head back home and I’m dying for a coffee. Kyle asks if we can get “mini donuts” and I decide to pick up a couple. Guilt? Perhaps. But going on less than 4 hours of sleep does not make it easy for me to think logically – especially with an emotional hole in the pit of my stomach.

The coffee helped as did a bigger breakfast. And after some time outside, the kids went down for their naps which also helped. So, the afternoon turned out to be a much nicer one with a quick shopping stop to get some food items and flowers 🙂

And then, it was off to the airport for what seemed an excruciating wait while Chantale came through the gate!

Sleeping on the drive to the airport

Is she here yet? Is she here yet?

I had to keep Kyle entertained by getting him to play “spot the Pilot” which he thoroughly enjoyed – especially when they would come out wearing their hats 🙂 Not soon enough, Chantale came out and Kyle ran to her holding a bouquet of roses for her. Too bad I wasn’t quick enough to capture that moment but I believe it will stay with me forever 🙂 Lots of kisses and snuggles followed for all of us but this was the best pic I got:

    My favorite ladies reunited 🙂

3 times 4 stems of mini roses

After saying hello/good-bye to everyone else, we finally headed home (but not before making Chantale tear up at the numerous Mother’s Day cards she got – especially the one from Charlize to her 😉 )

And now, for those who were wondering what “surprise” I was keeping from posting on Saturday, it was this. For Mother’s Day, we got Chantale a Magnolia bush! A good 90 minutes of digging through clay and rocks on Saturday ended with a beautiful addition to our front yard 🙂 I’m thrilled to say that Chantale absolutely loved it!

At home, I made my lovely wife a nice Mother’s day supper consisting of Chicken stuffed with portobello mushrooms and provolone, rice, asian spring vegetables, and wine. After the kids were in asleep, we just relaxed together and caught up. It was absolutely wonderful to have her back home 🙂

    Saturday Round-up

Wasn’t sure I was going to post today. It’s been quite a hectic one, that’s for sure. We were just on the go the entire day! Although I had originally made plans to head out at 9am, I ended up doing some quick renos around the house at that time including some last-minute laundry so we only headed off at 11am (waking Charlize up after only one hour of her morning nap, unfortunately). We picked up some flowers for my mom and then headed over there for lunch. It was a nice enough time even though my mom has been feeling quite ill since Thursday and my dad was having a rough day of bleeding at every urination 🙁 Definitely not fun.

Hey! Get over here and feed me!

    That’s a good boy. Here’s your treat!

Afterwards, we headed out to run a few more errands which led to a bit of work. But, those pictures and that story will have to wait until tomorrow when I know Chantale is safely in the plane and not able to see what I have to share until she comes home! 🙂

What? I’m allowed to have a secret!

    G’night!

    It’s Friday!!

And it went by in the blink of an eye! Seriously! You know, it kinda sucks that it took 2 days to get over the jetlag, 2 days to break in a routine, and 2 days to settle into a solid routine… only to have it end when I head back to work on Monday. sigh. Anyhow, today was a busy day. Kyle got me out of bed at 620am and we had time to have a leisurely breakfast before Charlize finally woke up at 730am! Unbelievable.

Oh there you are. It’s about time! I’m ready to get up now!

With breakfast out of the way for her, I packed them up and we headed out to run some errands. We got back and Charlize went down for her nap while Kyle and I played outside…

This storage box is great! It stores my toys AND me!

    …and then had lunch.

    Daddy makes the BESTEST sandwiches!

Kyle went down for his nap early since we had to leave at 230pm to go pick up James and Melyssa and Charlize immediately woke up.

Even when I’m sleeping he has to keep clicking away!

Before I knew it we were in Laval picking them up and back home cooking supper! Blink again and Charlize is asleep (7pm) and Kyle is playing in his room with James and Melyssa. I ran out quickly to pick something up but ended up coming back since the store was too crowded and I didn’t want to wait. Kyle was in bed at 8pm and I watched a bit of the hockey game with the elder kids (I even let Melyssa wear my Flyers jersey 😉 ). It’s a little after 9pm now and I’m rushing a quick post just to have some pics up. Yes, I’m also being cryptic but that’s how it has to be 🙂

Anyhow, tomorrow’s going to be a busy day, too, so it’ll probably be a quick update tomorrow night!

    Just Saying…

Watching Grey’s Anatomy without my wife by my side or at least on the telephone…

…there’s something very wrong about that. Not right at all.

    I’m just saying…

    So this is Thursday…

It’s hard to believe it’s Friday tomorrow! Woah! Where did the time go?! (I know I can find out by just reading my posts of this week… 😉 )

Chantale called me a little while ago! Another surprise! Unfortunately, she got the impression that things were hellish and out of control here! No, no, no. Seriously. Nothing more than the “regular/ usual”. Charlize is more than likely still teething as that fourth bottom tooth has not made an appearance yet and thus she has a very small appetite. And when she’s not eating… she needs to be held. But, not just in my arms -I have to be standing!! Sheesh. High maintenance! 🙂

Kyle goes through regular crying stages when he doesn’t get enough sleep. Not unusual. He didn’t nap for two days so those afternoons were rough. Today, I made sure he napped by taking away all the toys he kept sneaking onto his bed!! 🙂 (After all, the little bum was up at 5am today!!) By 1245pm he was asleep and woke up a little after 3pm. Charlize had a great morning nap but then wouldn’t nap in the afternoon. So, she’s getting tired now and will be going down soon. Kyle and I will continue to play until about 8pm.

Tomorrow we’ve got a few more errands to run in the morning and then we’re heading to pick up James and Melyssa for 340pm. Saturday we’re heading to my parents house for lunch. My dad was in the hospital for tests all day today as they’d been waiting all week to be called in for an operation. My dad’s been on the waiting list to remove some stones since August. Last week it flared up again and after another hospital visit the doc escalated. Those operations are only done on Fridays and since he’s not going in tomorrow, we’ll see them on Saturday.

What else is there to update? … I can’t really remember! 🙂 I wanted to do more work in the backyard but the weather’s been a little icky. It rained yesterday and was very windy today. At any rate, it’ll be easier to get more done with all the kids at home on Saturday 🙂

Oh, yeah, my tooth! Turns out that what I had actually swallowed wasn’t a quarter of my wisdom tooth, it was the quarter filling that made up my wisdom tooth! 🙂 This was one of the last fillings my previous dentist did – the one that kept me in constant pain for about 2 weeks afterwards! The dentist on Wednesday did a super job on it (although she did have to freeze me three times) and it’s all good. A little sensitive but the biggest pain is the canker sore that appeared under my tongue where the cotton pieces were put in during the procedure.

So, all in all, a very quick week. Not as relaxing as I had hoped but considering how completely out of balance the kids’ schedules are (each taking turns eating and sleeping means a constant stream of work and attention). But there have also been very nice moments of which I’ve captured and posted, plus Kyle does run up to me numerous times a day to hug me, and since yesterday has been saying, “I love you, Daddy” as he does it 🙂 (Go ahead, Alex, wipe that tear now 🙂 )

Quick pics and then I’ve gotta go! (by the way, for those wondering why I haven’t been putting them under an LJ Cut… Internet is expensive in the Dominican. I’m making sure that Chantale gets to see them all in one quick shot instead of one at a time!)

Why, yes, it IS windy… can’t you tell?

I just munched on Daddy’s nose!

I’m sharing my puzzles! Charlize is helping!

    A bientot! 🙂

    HumpDay Entry

No verbosity today. Can’t talk so won’t write 🙂 Was so tired last night I fell asleep at 10pm. Had to get out of bed at 6am again because I couldn’t convince Kyle to get back to bed. First thing I did once Charlize woke up was to lower her crib! It was a lot easier to bring it down to the lowest level than it was to lower it last time.

    I’m still tall!

During Charlize’s morning nap, Kyle and I got to play outside a bit…

T-Ball: It’s not just for Baseballs!

Casey took shelter from the sun…

And Kyle managed to nail a perfect shot…

    Right at Daddy’s head!

The rest of the day went by rather quickly as lunch came and went with Kyle eating first, Charlize waking up from her nap right after and eating second, with Kyle going to nap after that. Our good friend Jenny came over to keep an eye on Charlize while I headed to the dentist for some paid torture. The tooth has been repaired but I’m still slightly frozen and in pain 5 hours later.

Kyle pulled another quick stunt by skipping his nap time just like yesterday and Charlize would not go down for hers either. This meant that by late afternoon they were both unbearable! They couldn’t even stand themselves. So… Kyle passed out in his chair during supper, and Charlize followed. Yes, there was some wailing during the putting in bed but it couldn’t be helped. Kyle was out like a light and so is Charlize. I’m literally expecting Kyle to sleep through the night but Charlize might wake up in an hour hungry. At least that’s what I’m hoping because she did not have much of an appetite today.

As for me… I’m going to go read for a while and hope this pain passes quickly enough. So far the Tylenol has eased the throbbing but not the ache. Oh, listen to that. Charlize is crying. All right, scratch that last idea.
