Rested and Pumped! :)

I’m still wet from my very enjoyable bubble bath 🙂 I’ve been looking forward to taking one for a while now. I knew tonight wouldn’t pass without one 🙂 I took the kids to James’ friend’s house to drop off the birthday gift we had gotten for him and then I took them back to their mother’s. I think I was the strongest ever dropping them off after being with me a week. It wasn’t until after I hugged and kissed them good-bye and they were walking away that I said to them, “I really enjoyed my week with you”. That’s when the first of only a handful of tears escaped (small smile).

From there, I went to fill up (found a PetroCan for 79.9 instead of 82.5) and then I headed to the gym for a short but intensive workout. It felt really good, but not good enough. I know what I needed and I wouldn’t get any of that there. I hopped back in the car and came home. Set the television to Galaxy (80’s) and piped it through the stereo for louder enjoyment. I’m in a really great set right now as they’ve been playing 80’s alternative the entire time. With this very enjoyable music, it was easy to get pumping. Machines can never replace free weights. No bloody way. The joy from the exersion of lifting barbells and dumbells just can’t be mimicked with a machine. Also, since I knew there was nobody downstairs, I was able to do some jumping and cardio which is really invigorating!

Finally, I felt I was properly worked up and cooled down some. And then heated up again as I slipped into my (last) bubblebath! Yup, all out! Gotta go buy some more! 🙂

So, sitting here in my bathrobe and starting to feel the twinge of hunger (when did I last eat again?… (grin) relax, it was lunchtime! 🙂 ), I’m in the perfect mood for the perfect movie (I don’t care what anyone else thinks): Hudson Hawk!

Now I’m just gonna wait until there’s a lull in the music (Thompson Twins just came on, Joe Jackson before, Elvis Costello before that, Cindy Lauper previously, The Jam ahead, etc etc etc.) 🙂 In the meantime, I can just get myself ready with either a Cappuccino… or a B-52 :>

Bombers Away!! 🙂

“It’s not the way you look,
It’s not the way that you smile.
Although there’s something to them.
It’s not the way you have your hair,
It’s not that certain style;
It could be that with you.”

“Darlin’ darlin’ darlin’
I can’t wait to see you
Your picture ain’t enough
I can’t wait to touch you in the flesh
Darlin’ darlin’ darlin’
I can’t wait to hear you
Remembering your love
Is nothing without you in the flesh”

Sick Kids…

Funny. When it’s not one, it’s the other. Part of the joys and trials and tribulations of being a Dad 🙂

Church was going well this morning… until James started feeling
sick. After 2 trips to the bathroom, he came back crying. I picked him up and brought him there and within 5 minutes he was throwing up all over the bathroom floor. I cleaned up, disinfected and everything, and got the kids ready to leave. Before we did, he threw up again. When we got back home, as soon as he stepped out of the car, once again on the driveway. Oh boy…

He would pick his last day with me to get the Stomache Flu, eh? 🙂 I made him lie down for a while and he’s doing better now. We’re in the living room floor putting together his dragon legos. Afterwards, we’ll build his new model car (which my in-laws got him for Xmas). So I guess we’ll end up having a lazy sunday as well 🙂

Fatigue

Yup. Color me officially exhausted.

I just finished watching Goldmember and I found it to be the weakest of all three movies. Sure, it had some cute bits, but nothing at all in the guffaw factor which were in either of the other movies. And yet, I’ve heard told from folks who found this one the best of the three. (shrug). Nope. Not me.

And on that note, I’m going to bed. But, I leave you with another piece of that Burt Bacharach song:

“What this world needs now,
is Love, sweet love.
It’s the only thing,
that there’s just,
too little of”

g’night folks. sweet dreams.

Last Night

I totally forgot to mention something this morning. Last night after logging off, I went to bed and tried to read a comic before settling in for the night. By 2am, Melyssa walks into the bedroom crying and holding onto her right arm; a pool of blood on it. I got up and quickly took her into the bathroom to wash it off. She had a scab on that arm from her eczema and had scraped it off in her sleep. I reassured her that it was ok and not to worry. I washed it off, put some antibiotic cream on it and bandaged it up. Gave her Ventolin as well since she had been due and then brought her back to bed. She quickly fell back asleep 🙂

I decide to go to sleep and 2 hours later, the phone rings. 4am our time was 10pm New Zealand time and I got to talk with Chantale for about 5 minutes (I recently discovered how expensive LD calls from there are 🙂 ). It was wonderful to hear her voice again and going through a quick catch-up 🙂

Back to sleep and at 7am, the kids were up. Boy it’s no wonder I was so tired this morning at Beavers! 🙂

Christmas Snow…

I just went out to move the car since my folks were going out. It was the first time I went out since I got back from Beavers this morning and, I must admit, it was nice outside. Nice soft, fluffy snow on the ground covering everything. What little houses there were which still had christmas lights helped give everything a “nostalgic” xmas scenery.

Of course, considering it’s like 3 weeks too late, it’s somewhat depressing instead. Bah.

The kids and I enjoy the occassional “Lazy Sunday Afternoons”. But, since we’ll be busy tomorrow, we decided to make today Lazy Day. We lounged around the house and I believe I even may have passed out for a short nap sometime this afternoon. Considering how grumpy I was this morning, I think I needed it.

Today being the 1st Lazy Day without Chantale made for a strange afternoon. I went through periods of boredom to loneliness (kids notwithstanding). I got to arguing with myself to get outside and go do the shopping I’ve been wanting to do. It was strange and bizarre to say the least.

Supper just ended and the kids are changing into their pjs. Yes, it’s a little early, but we’re settling down for our regular movie night. I initially wanted to watch Mary Poppins but considering that movie always makes me bawl, I think I’ll opt out for Spy Kids instead 🙂

Shagadelic baby

I’ve gotta get used to this whole DVD thing. Used to be I’d pop a movie in, watch it, and then move along. Not so any more. Nope, you slap in the DVD, watch the movie, and then spend the next couple of hours going through the goodies. Yee gads. Of course, when it’s something you really like (Austin Powers, for example) with an actor you really like (Mike Myers, for example), it becomes difficult to switch it off 🙂

But, the best part of the movie was getting a phone call from my in-laws asking if I’d spoken with Chantale because they’d just received an email from her. Since I had last checked my mail just before starting Austin, I thought she might be online that very moment. Thus, the movie went on pause, and the connection to the net re-established.

Sure enough, she was online and we were able to exchange quick emails for a few minutes 🙂 Tres cool 🙂 She’s all done with Auckland and is ready to head off to Christchurch. Of course, that’s only happening in a few days 🙂 She’s having a blast and promises that we’ll do it together in a couple of years. 🙂

And now, with 1am coming and going, it’s time for bed. Beavers in the morning and then I’m hoping for a lazy Saturday afternoon 🙂

By the way, one cool thing about the DVD is that I can actually watch a DVD while using my vcr to tape something from LOOK. Very handy 🙂

“Wherever you go, there you are!” Good night folks!

Lazy Evening…

The kids are snug in their beds 🙂 I had a really nice evening with them. I came home early today and brought James with me to go mail off the latest issues of Comicopia (hey, fellow Copians, please let me know when you get the issues!). James was really surprised with the fact that I mail out so many issues and how it goes to all parts of the world! He was particularly impressed with the United Kingdom and I promised him we’ll go study it on his “First Amazing Discovery” world travel game 🙂

Afterwards, we headed to Wal-mart to buy a birthday gift for one of his best friends. He’s going to his house for a party on Sunday and so he knew just what to get him 🙂

When we got back, Melyssa had awakened from her nap and we went upstairs so I could make them burgers (by special request). Then, it was into their pjs and into the living room where I turned off all the lights, lit 11 candles around the room and put in the Harry Potter DVD 🙂 Boy I really like that movie! And no matter how many times I see it (and it’s been quite a number of times already!) that end scene with the House Cup always brings tears to my eyes 🙂 Melyssa had actually fallen asleep mid-way (she hasn’t done this in ages! Proof that she’s still exhausted) but James and I happily watched the rest. I’m gonna miss them fiercely when I bring them back on Sunday night. And I know they’ll miss me just as much, too. Melyssa even cried about that last night. And James, well, you can feel his love coming out of every pore. He would absolutely love staying with me and Chantale all the time.

*sigh*. We all look forward to the times they get to spend weeks with us. This new bloody arrangement because of school has been hard. But, the times we get to spend together now are marked with an even higher appreciation and love. Anyone who sees us together can tell 🙂

All right. I’m gonna go make me a bowl of fruit salad and settle down for Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me. Last night was the 1st movie, and tomorrow night will likely be Goldmember. It’s an Austin Fest 🙂 Groovy, Baby 🙂

Busy Friday!

Weird being back at work today, but it was really busy and the time flew very quickly. The kids stayed with my folks and I checked up on them every now and again. Melyssa’s doing much better now and responding well to the Ventolin. She actually slept right through last night which meant,of course, that I slept through as well! 🙂

I worked through lunch in order to leave earlier. I stopped off at the comic shop on the way home since I hadn’t been there in a few weeks. Cool stash I look forward to reading. Although there are a couple of titles I’ll wait for Chantale to get back from her trip for so we can read them together 🙂 I did manage to snag an Astro City Confessor action figure for $5. My LCS had been trying to get rid of it forever at $10 and when I told him I’d give him 5 bucks for it he said “sure!” and immediately took it down 🙂 All that’s left is a Samaritan one I didn’t want. Does anyone want it? 🙂

Ok, I’m in a pretty good mood now and am gonna get started on supper. Due to incessant demand, we’re having burgers tonight 🙂

Email Update!

I got a few emails from Chantale this morning 🙂 She found an internet cafe close by which only charges $2 an hour. She’s having a blast and says the natives in New Zealand are very friendly and the place is beautiful 🙂

Made my heart soar to hear from her 🙂
