Oh. Hello there. I know you. I remember you from before. You’re stress. I thought I’d gotten rid of you. What are you doing back in my daily life? Ah. Responsibilities. Well. I know you now. You’re not gonna get the better of me again. Up yours.
[at least this explains why every day seems to feel like a Monday. And today hitting -27 with the bloody wind chill factor doesn’t help].
Ok, I admit I was going to stay quiet today. As much as I slept wonderfully last night, sleeping through the night without once waking up, and waking up refreshed, I had somewhat of a blah day. Yes, it was busy. As busy as the others so far. But something just kept nagging at the back of my mind. I needed a break and felt I just couldn’t get one. From the annoying loudmouth in the metro this morning, to the loud discussions at the coffee shop during lunch, I couldn’t find any down time. I felt blah.
Heck, after work I even walked over to the Eaton Centre to catch My Big Fat Greek Wedding thinking it might help cheer me up. Nope. Made it worse. Sure, there were a couple of giggles in the movie, but there were a lot more slapping myself in the head moments. Sorry to everyone who enjoyed it, for me, it was a Big Fat Waste of Money.
BUT. When I got home, I got to talk to James for about 10 minutes before he got to bed. I heard his voicemail message (where he whispered that he loved me and missed me) and immediately called him where we laughingly chatted for a bit. I couldn’t speak with Melyssa as she was already asleep but it was really nice hearing his voice. And then, I go online to check my mail… and I have a few messages from Chantale waiting for me.
That brought my spirits up immensely 🙂 Who needs booze or drugs to get high? All I need is to hear from my love 🙂
So, once back in a wonderful mood, I turned off all the lights in the apartment again, lit some candles, and settled in with The Three Musketeers on DVD. Picked it up this past weekend for under $12 — well worth its price! DVD Clarity and WideScreen format. Aaahhh! 🙂 BTW, you can consider me a pig. I’ve officially polished off more than half that apple pie my mother-in-law made me 🙂 Not in one sitting! 🙂
Well, tomorrow at lunch I’m meeting up with
I just finished talking with Chantale. She’s in ChristChurch but, sadly, as beautiful and friendly as Aukland was, CC is the complete opposite 🙁 It sucks for her that she has to spend 3 days in a town that sounds so horrible. At least after that some folks who’ll be on the same tour as her will be arriving and she won’t be alone. Also, lucky for her, she decided to do the Contiki tour in reverse. This means that she’s starting in CC, but will end the tour in Aukland. At least she has the “good” place to look forward to 🙂
I really miss her… it’s no wonder my sleeping patterns are so screwed up. It’s just so difficult to sleep soundly without her next to me… *sigh*
Just came back from watching the latest Bond flick with my father-in-law. What a movie! It has to be the absolute best Bond movie to date! The teaser totally shocked me! It was unlike any other Bond made. Also, the fact that the “villains” were from North Korea made the entire storyline a little scary.
We both really enjoyed it immensely until the end. Once they started overly-exaggerating what an airplane can do (and how long it can continue to fly when it’s completely in flames), my father-in-law started scoffing. Sure, he can suspend his disbelief along with the rest of us, but when it comes to his line of work, well, there are limits 🙂
The drive home was somewhat terrible. In fact, driving conditions on the Met were some of the worst I had to go through. I must have used up at least a litre of windshield fluid. I was glad to get home, let me tell you! The hairs on the back of my neck were raised almost the entire way! Sheesh!
So now I’ve got some time to get cozy and wait for Chantale to call me 🙂 She was flying into ChristChurch today and will be calling once she’s settled in.
What a day! I’ve been in one meeting after the other all day long! Every one intense, every one leading to more work, every one very important! I’m tired and have a headache now. I could easily sleep! I guess I’ll be able to close my eyes in the metro for the 15 minutes it takes me to get to Joliette. That should help. (That, plus the extra-strength tylenol I just took!). After all, I’m heading out to see the latest James Bond flick with my father-in-law 🙂
I can’t sleep! Had the most stupid-type dreams and ended up waking up. Then, I’m hearing footsteps in the hallway, the kind usually made by the kids when they’re sneaking out of their rooms. Of course, considering there’s only me and the fish in the house right now, it makes you wonder how fish can walk.
Anyhow, I’m wide awake. Bah. And I think I’m coming down with something as my throat is a little raw. I guess it’s time to replenish fluids again… sheesh…
DVDs are evil. Credit cards are evil. Debit cards are evil…
I finally got my hands on the Lord of the Rings Extended DVD collection. I tested each disk in my player to ensure they were readable… and oh the glorious sound that came out of my stereo… With over 30 extra minutes of movie (it actually spawns 2 disks!!) it’s gonna be one hell of a movie to watch!!
There are even 2 other disks which show the actual New Zealand locations used in the filming of the movie. So, I can visit via DVD the actual spots Chantale is currently travelling through… Yup, I’m envious 🙂
I’m also a little sore from last night’s workout. But it’s a really good sore. The kind of sore that makes you feel your muscles. Mmm. Nice 🙂
Ok, back to Crossing Jordan!
Well we ain’t got a barrel of money…
We may look ragged and funny…
But we’re travelin’ on…
Singing our song…
Side by side.
Through all kinds of weather…
What if the sky should fall?
As long as we’re together,
It doesn’t matter at all.
Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there’s no one else above you
Fill my heart with gladness
take away all my sadness
ease my troubles that’s what you do
For the morning sun in all it’s glory
greets the day with hope and comfort too
You fill my life with laughter
and somehow you make it better
ease my troubles that’s what you do
There’s a love that’s divine
and it’s yours and it’s mine like the sun
And at the end of the day
we should give thanks and pray
to the one, to the one

I’m still tired. I guess I’m a lot more tired than I believed! Heck, I didn’t get a chance to finish the movie last night! I sat down in the living room, lights off, candles on, wine in glass and pasta in bowl and giggled myself silly to Hudson Hawk. 90 minutes later I’m feeling very sleepy and stretch out. Next thing I know, it’s 11pm and the house is quiet. I turn off the television, DVD player, and stereo and the next thing I know, it’s 1am. I figure I may as well drag myself to bed. Why is it the minute I hit the pillow I’m suddenly wide awake??? I tossed and turned for half an hour before getting up for something to drink. I manage to fall asleep but at 6am I just CAN’T get up. Snooze once and then finally turn off the alarm. 7am I try again to no avail. Set the alarm again for 7:25am and at that time, although still exhausted, I force myself up.
I manage to get myself ready for work and also check my email. Good thing because there were a few emails from Chantale who’s still having a blast and now made me envious when I read about all the sailboats and the America Cup races going on. She promises we’ll go back in a couple of years 🙂
Well, the emails spruce me up and I’m out the door by 8am. Been having a busy morning so far as there’s a lot to get ready for this month with dozens of meetings and new projects and transfers and hirings, etc etc. Yup, I’m hiring so if anyone’s a solid Java Programmer with experience in Unix and Relational Databases (Oracle, Access) who’d be interested in Application Support, drop me a line 🙂
Ok, back to business. Check in later!
