Just thoughts…

…I was just re-reading through the Name thing and found it curious yet somewhat significant that Savage and Chantale are exactly alike 🙂

…Found out yesterday that LJ doesn’t allow you to go back and read your entries from the beginning with the “20 entries per page” setting. When I tried it, I got as far back as December 8th,2002. Then, to go earlier, it only worked on a day-by-day basis. That was quite disappointing, actually.

…I’d been thinking for a while how I liked the fact of keeping myself in my own Friends list, thereby being able to see all my entries and comments in addition to those of my Friends. I thought it was a really neat idea when I saw it on ‘s pages so I put it in as well. Today, actually asked me why I had done this which caused me to LOL 🙂 Made me realize I never acknowledged goodie for the idea 🙂 Now rectified

…If everything was on time, Chantale is now in Sydney Australia until the 30th…

…My cell phone finally bought the farm last night. Truthfully, it still functions, I just got fed up with its non-ability to sustain a battery charge and constantly letting me down. If anyone wants an old Nokia cell phone with a battery and car charger, let me know and it’s yours.

…Next weekend is the Wedding Show at the Gallant Country Inn where Chantale and I will be holding our Wedding Reception. It’s always a great affair as we’ll get to see the tables laid out and taste all the various dishes 🙂 Sadly, my Best Man and his wife can’t make it out with us that day (Feb 1st). That was a minor disappointment.

…In the mood, and NOT in the mood of doing something tonight. Will probably just make a bag of popcorn and watch a movie. Or sleep. Just in that frame of mind, ya know?

…This turned into a lot more notes and writing than I expected.

Creature of the Night…

I don’t get it.

It’s almost 12:30am and I’m still awake, even though 2 hours ago I was quite tired and ready for bed. In fact, I came into the office to officially and finally disconnect my P133 and pack it up along with a few spare parts. (Yes, I found a home for it in Toronto 🙂 So, I’m not going to bring it on Saturday, but I will bring you a 1970’s laptop just so you can hold a piece of history 🙂 ).

Anyhow, one thing led to another and now my office is cleaner than it’s ever been before. So what do I do? After plugging in my Zip drive and locating the setup disks, I break open the box my scanner came in to see where on my desk I’ll position it. It’s only right, after all, since I got this the day Chantale left and I hadn’t even taken it out of the box 🙂 There’ll be plenty of pictures to scan when she does get back so may as well be ready! 🙂

So, the Zip is ready to be configured. The Scanner is ready to be plugged in and installed. And that is all I have left to do in the office! Holey Moley!!!

Oh, yeah, , are there any second-hand bookstores in Ottawa that actually buy books? I brought 2 boxes to the Book Market in Pierrefonds tonight and was told they aren’t buying any. I don’t really want to toss them in the recycling bin (although I have done that before) and since they’re IN the car already, they may end up taking a drive to Ottawa with me 🙂

Ok, enough. I’ve been awake way too long today already. I want to get through today (friday) so I can get on with the weekend. It will pass quickly as I’m moving desks today and then have my team meeting in the afternoon. With Saturday planned and Sunday semi-planned (I wanna watch the SuperBowl, just haven’t decided where it’ll be!), it’ll be nice to think about something other than work for a few days 🙂

g’nite!

Silly Name Stuff :)

I took this from . Thanks! 🙂

It’s a silly little name-game which doesn’t really give good descriptions. I can probably cut and paste from each one to put something truly real in place 🙂 I’ve got my Real Name, my Nickname, my Online Name, as well as Chantale’s (although online she’s Galaxion, not Galaxia 🙂 ). Here’s what What’s In a Name says about us.

__________

Michele
Your first name of Michele creates individuality, independence, self-confidence, initiative, and an inclination to physical activity. You are not inclined to merge your opinions and viewpoints with others, to accept compromise, or to work in a subservient position against your will. Your expression is invariably quite direct and candid, and lacks the moderating tone of tact, diplomacy, and friendliness. Others find it difficult to accept your domineering and, at times, argumentative manner. Your circle of friends is restricted to those of like nature. Once friendship is established, you are very loyal and steadfast and do not tolerate gossip or criticism. In your close associations and family life, there is little demonstration of sentiment, appreciation, sympathy, or encouragement. It is difficult for you to find the right words for such circumstances. Weaknesses in the health caused by this name centre in the head.

__________

Mike
The name of Mike has given you a very imaginative, creative mind. You always have new ideas, but too often they are for an easy way out of a difficulty, or an easy way of making money. You are not inclined to apply yourself consistently to a job and to reach the fulfilment of your goals through perseverance and hard work. The influence of this name has caused you to feel unsettled emotionally and mentally. You are never satisfied with conditions, because your feelings and desires are so changeable. Hence you seek change in order to have the opportunity for travel, new experiences, and new friends and associates. There are people in your association who could influence you unfavourably and thereby mislead you; disillusionment, embarrassment, and bitter experiences then become your lot. You have a very talkative nature and because of it, you could do well in saleswork or in a position where you handle the public. However, you would find any position requiring self-confidence and aggressiveness very trying. You are subject to moods of depression and self-pity, arising in part from a lack of confidence. Nervous tension often affects your solar plexus and stomach area. Also, the kidneys and fluid functions of the body could be affected.

__________

Savage
As Savage you have a great love of nature and the out-of-doors, and could have a desire to be in an occupation which takes you outdoors and involves you with the products of the earth. All the finer things of life and beauties of nature are an inspiration to you and you are attracted to the mysteries of nature. Difficulty in expression results in your being too positive, blunt, and candid in speech. Although you are easily offended by others, you do not show it. You crave affection and understanding, but rarely find it as others do not understand you and accuse you of being cool and aloof. The average person would never realize the true depth of your nature. A very individual, independent person, you live within your own thoughts. The insecurity you experience from limited verbal expression and social ease results in a jealous possessiveness and suffering through frustration, repressed emotion, and self-consciousness. This name would cause tension affecting the eyes, teeth, sinuses, ears or throat troubles; there could also be sensitivity in the heart, lungs, and respiratory organs, and frequent headaches.

__________

Chantale
As Chantale you have a great love of nature and the out-of-doors. All the finer things of life and beauties of nature are an inspiration to you and you are attracted to the mysteries of nature. Difficulty in expression results in your being too positive, blunt, and candid in speech and although you are easily offended by others, you do not show it. This name would cause tension affecting the eyes, teeth, sinuses, ears or throat. There could also be a sensitivity in the heart, lungs, and respiratory organs, and frequent headaches.

__________

Tally
Your first name of Tally has given you a studious nature, and the ability to concentrate on whatever you are doing. You could excel in mathematics or in positions where persistence, independence, and individuality are required. In personal associations, a lack of finesse in verbal expression often creates misunderstandings with others, especially with those close to you, because you find it difficult and embarrassing to express depth of feeling when situations arise requiring diplomacy, understanding, and affection. Others may often find you reserved and aloof, when actually you desire love and understanding. This name creates a withdrawn, reserved nature. You feel very alone at times and find it difficult to merge with others in a happy, relaxed manner. You could suffer with head tension, or any weakness relative to the heart, lungs, or bronchial organs.

__________

Galaxia
The name of Galaxia has given you the desire for creative, artistic or musical expression in an original way. You strive to be different and have the self-confidence to implement your ideas because you have the perseverance necessary to see something through, despite obstacles. Although you meet new people easily, it is not easy for you to maintain a relaxed, harmonious relationship. With increased familiarity you are inclined to speak your mind in a forthright, sometimes argumentative manner which creates annoyance and often hard feelings. In an argument, you usually emerge victor, but at a cost. This name does not offer the softness of expression for long-lasting compatibility in close associations. Any weakness physically would be centred in the skin and liver, or in the head causing head colds, sinus conditions, headaches, or hay fever.

Wake-up Call of Love :)

I just got off the phone with Chantale 🙂 She called at around 5:30am! We must have talked for an hour! What a wonderful way to wake up in the morning 🙂 It was a little funny in that once I hung up the phone, as soon as my head touched the pillow, my alarm went off!! LOL!!

After talking so little and so sporadically the the last 2 weeks, it was really nice to not have to feel rushed. Hey, she’s 7 days from being back in my arms!! 🙂 She is indeed having a blast and it’ll take a while for her to relate all of her adventures. No problem. I’m not going anywhere 🙂 Even though pictures can’t truly do justice to the trip, I look forward to seeing them. Besides her digital camera, I believe she’s already used up something like 6 rolls of film 🙂 I do believe the trip was really good for her, and quite beneficial for us as well. Talk about testing our feelings for each other!!!

*happy sigh* It’ll be so amazing to see her again…

Where does the time go?

One thing you can always count on: That 70’s Show will give you a good laugh 🙂 Which it did!

And I got to see a new DareDevil commercial. Way cool 🙂

It’s bloody cold, though. But I’m sitting on the rocking chair in the living room, listening to Sarah McLachlan (all her cds are on rotation), reading comics. I’m gonna go ahead and light up all the candles around me and make myself a mug of hot chocolate.

Sheesh. I almost feel like I’m “nesting” Guess I’m just looking for some down time. Work has been keeping me so much busier than I could have imagined. It’s almost a little depressing. I had a LIST of things I wanted to do this month where I wouldn’t have had to worry about “time”. Turns out I’ve only done one of the items. Granted, it was the hugest one there (office clean-out, computer consolidation), but still.

I really should make time to relax. Being on the “go” all the time during the day makes it difficult to slow down at night. Hard to relax. I would try to get back into meditation if it weren’t for the fact that right now that feels like a waste of time 🙂 Weird? Nah. Wired. Yeah.

I’ll check in later. Still hoping Chantale will call tonight…

CSAV Radio

“With the night cold enough to keep your ice cream on the balcony without any fear of melting, here are some tunes to keep your heart warm. The first, a very personal favorite of mine, is by non other than the King, Elvis. The second is a remake by Vonda Shepard of a classic Dean Martin song. Crooners in tune with emotions…”

_____________

When no-one else can understand me
When everything I do is wrong
You give me hope and consolation
You give me strength to carry on

And you’re always there to lend a hand
In everything I do
That’s the wonder
The wonder of you

And when you smile the world is brighter
You touch my hand and I’m a king
Your kiss to me is worth a fortune
Your love for me is everything

I’ll guess I’ll never know the reason why
You love me like you do
That’s the wonder
The wonder of you

-Elvis Presley, The Wonder of You

See the pyramids along the Nile
Watch the sunrise on a tropic isle
Just remember that all the while
You belong to me

See the market place in old Algiers
Send me photographs and souvenirs
Just remember when a dream appears
You belong to me

I’ll be so lonesome wothout you
Maybe you’ll be lonesome, too
And blue

Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it’s wet with rain
Just remember ’til you’re home again
You belong to me

Maybe you’ll be lonesome, too
And blue

Fly the ocean in a silver plane
See the jungle when it’s wet with rain
Just remember ’til you’re home again

Maybe you’ll be lonesome, too

Just remember ’til you’re home again
You belong to me

Good Good Good Good Vibrations…

Just came back from Parents Council Meeting. Ah, I remember the first and second time I went and how uncomfortable I felt. And then, by the third time I was enjoying it. After that, everyone felt “friendly” and I really felt a part of it all. These feelings even continued outside of Council and it was during all those good feelings that I introduced Chantale to members of the Council during the Kids’ school concert a few months back.

Well, it was in that same frame of mind that I went tonight. I got there early and thus spent some time talking with the Principal. The first words she said to me? “Your fiancee is GORGEOUS!” (grin) Yeah, I agreed 🙂 Then I told her how incredible an influence she’s been with the kids and how much time and energy she’s invested with them. She asked if the kids liked her and I responded that they absolutely adore her 🙂

After our chat, I walked around to see the new pictures and projects that were up around school. I snuck a love note in Melyssa’s shoe and then went hunting for James’. I couldn’t find his so I stuck his note in Melyssa’s other shoe with a “To James” indicator 🙂

The meeting went well and afterwards I ended up chatting with one lady over the recent Standard Life commercial. She told me she saw it and her son freaked out when she told him who I was (“James’ dad is on TV! Wow!”). The Principal and a few other members came into the conversation at this point and we chatted a bit more before I left 🙂 Good feelings 🙂

The only non-good feelings are that the SWL School Board is voting tomorrow on the issue of re-zoning. Our Parent Delegate informed us that it will be a major impact on the kids. Woah. Maybe if I can make it, I’ll head out to the actual School Board general meeting tomorrow instead of waiting for Thursday morning to read about it on their web site…

Another Postcard!!!

I came home today in this brutal -34 degree (windchill) weather and was immediately warmed up as I walked through my door. Another postcard from Chantale 🙂 Blue Lakes, Aoraki/ Mt Cook – New Zealand 🙂

She writes: I love you, sweets, more than anything in the world – even over chocolate ice cream! 🙂

Again, there is more, but that’s for my eyes only! 🙂

TV Dating Crap

Meet my Folks? Meet my foot in your ass! Man, I thought this show was pretty stupid when it first came on the air last summer. But with their new “revamp” now, it makes the last season look intelligent! What a bunch of total losers! Every one of them! And tonight’s contestant? What an asshole. Right from the get-go. “Yeah, I like blondes with thin waists and big booties… heh heh heh” Yeah, ok, and which one are you? Beavis or Butthead? And of course, then you get mom going, “Dan needs someone with substance. The last few girls he’s brought home have all been pretty, but with nothing else. They couldn’t hold a conversation”.

Refer to my previous question.

And the girls on the show? Skanks, every last one. Sheesh. But then again, what else do you expect? If they were worthy of anything (and they were real), they wouldn’t BE on tv looking for a date, right? Joe Millionaire, Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire, Elimi-Date, Meet my Folks, Bachelor, Bachelorette, Temptation Island… for God’s sake, people! Love and Relationships are not fucken game shows!!

If the world is going to hell in a hand-basket, it’s not so much because of all the wars (or impendings thereof), but because of how we treat each other. Pawns, Stepping Stones, Commodities to be bought and sold. So much for “love thy neighbor”

Stop the world, I want to get off.

P133 Looking for a home…

I’m very close to finally shedding everything off my Pentium-133 system. Yup, it’s an oldie (about 5 years) and for the last 3 it’s basically been the Kids’ Game Computer. But now, I’ve been scouring its hard drive looking for what stuff I’ve put there that hasn’t been transferred over yet (don’t laugh. Only a couple of months ago I found a couple of programs I had written to which I required the source code… and there it was!). I think I’ve gotten it down to an easy directory wherein I can transfer it off to my new system. After that, it’s adios-muchachos. So, the question is, like the one of a few weeks ago: does anyone want a P-133 system? 2 gig drive, 64Meg ram. Only problem is a non-functioning CD drive. If you want it, raise your hand. Otherwise I’ll kick it off my balcony as I did with the two 386s and the 486.

Next. , I’ll be leaving Montreal at about 12:00pm on Saturday January 25th and making my way to the Aviation Museum. Weather hopefully permitting, I should be there by 2pm. With 3 hours before closing, I’m hoping I’ll have had enough time to see it all 🙂 You’re welcome to join me, of course, but either way I’d like to meet up for a coffee (or at that point, even supper would be super! 🙂 ) The time I leave to come back to Montreal will be based on what kind of a day it is (weather-wise, of course).

Strangely enough, there are a handful of people I’d like to visit with in Ottawa. Were I able to leave earlier, I would have. However, I can’t leave before noon and thus must make do 🙂

All right, back to the cleaning up. Have to fold those 4 loads of laundry I did last night 🙂
