XTC – Skylarking

Dear God,
hope you got the letter, and…
I pray you can make it better down here.
I don’t mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image, see
them starving on their feet ’cause they don’t get
enough to eat from God, I can’t believe in you

Dear God, sorry to disturb you, but… I feel that I should be heard
loud and clear. We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image, see them fighting
in the street ’cause they can’t make opinions meet about God,
I can’t believe in you

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue? Did you make
mankind after we made you? And the devil too!

Dear God, don’t know if you noticed, but… your name is on
a lot of quotes in this book, and us crazy humans wrote it, you
should take a look, and all the people that you made in your
image still believing that junk is true. Well I know it ain’t, and
so do you, dear God, I can’t believe in I don’t believe in

I won’t believe in heaven and hell. No saints, no sinners, no
devil as well. No pearly gates, no thorny crown. You’re always
letting us humans down. The wars you bring, the babes you
drown. Those lost at sea and never found, and it’s the same the
whole world ’round. The hurt I see helps to compound that
Father, Son and Holy Ghost is just somebody’s unholy hoax,
and if you’re up there you’d perceive that my heart’s here upon
my sleeve. If there’s one thing I don’t believe in

it’s you… Dear God

Just wanted to share that.

:(

Here I sit. The left side of my face frozen from novacaine. The back of my head and the right of my temple beginning to throb in a slow beat. boom. boom. boom.

Dental work sucks.

I’m starving and can’t eat.

I’d be able to eat if I could feel my lips. Or my tongue. Or my throat.

but I can’t. so I sit. the left side of my face frozen from novacaine. the back of my head and the right of my temple beginning to throb in a slow beat. boom. boom. boom.

Die Tooth Fairy

Last update for the weekend touches upon today. See, on Friday morning, after the kids and I dropped Chantale off at the metro, we headed to the West Island as I had a hairdresser’s appointment. Once the ears were lowered, I headed to the CAA to renew my drivers license and medicare card. From there, we headed to Chez Cora’s for Brunch. This was all new to the kids so I knew they would get a kick out of it. After a great brunch of pancakes, toast, eggs, juice, etc etc, we left. In the car, I thought I had food stuck in my back teeth. But, when I checked in the mirror…. lo and behold, I realized a part of my lower-right wisdom tooth was missing! I realized it had not only broken off, but I had obviously swallowed it as well! Ack!

A few frantic phone calls later, I managed to get a dentist who would see me to assess the damage. He couldn’t really take care of me, but it was worth a shot. He ended up putting a sedative dressing on it so that I could at least last the weekend. My options were simple: get a filling or get it pulled. And I still can’t figure out what to do simply because the tooth is not really “required” in a sense and it is difficult to maintain. Meaning, that if I get a filling, it may not last. Bah. I just hate throwing away money and every time I go to the dentist, that’s what I feel I’m doing!

Anyhow, I called my own dentist yesterday and made an appointment for today at 1pm. So, we’ll see what he has to say. I’ll have an update later this afternoon.

In the meantime, I’m ready for some warm weather now, please. Thanks.

Off to the Races!

Weekend Update #2

Saturday Morning, Chantale and I headed over to visit with our Travel Agent. As we’re looking at ideas for our Honeymoon, we wanted to sit down and review what options were available to us. Being at her house instead of where she works made for a much more relaxed atmosphere and we spent over an hour there 🙂 We know what we want, and are just attempting to work out departures and itinerary. There are a couple of things we’re not too keen on but we might have to accept. Heck, it’s just an item or two we would normally not do, but might end up being fun. We went to Chez Cora’s on Sources for Brunch and to review the brochures. Excellent food, as always 🙂 The scariest thing about the travelling is the overlooming prospect of war. War would dampen all our plans in regards to what we’re hoping for. So, let’s hope there is no war.

In the afternoon, we headed over to Centre Vu to pick up my new glasses!! Yup, on Friday night, we went there to see if I could find some new frames since Chantale has some benefit points she needs to use with her insurance. I found something I liked (Diesel!) and we left expecting them to be ready on Monday. They were ready on Saturday 🙂 Mondo cool. And so am I in my new frames 🙂

At night, her father came over for supper. We had a really great meal of Chicken Alfredo prepared by Chantale 🙂 A very tasty and filling meal with a bottle of Masi Campofiore. Mmmm! For dessert, a nice chocolate roll. I even cracked open a bottle of Nivole I had been keeping since Xmas 🙂 And before you ask, no, I wasn’t attempting to impress my father-in-law 🙂 The meal simply dictated some good wine 🙂 It was a really pleasant supper topped off with a cup (or two) of Amaretto Almond coffee. Happy Sigh 🙂

He left shortly after 9pm and Chantale and I settled in to watch the F1 race in Australia. Very cool and exciting race! I really thought the new rules (especially in terms of qualifying) brought a new level and element to the races which made them more enjoyable to watch. 🙂 We were rooting for Montoya but coming in second was better than not! 🙂

Monday Catch-Up

I realized something this morning.

I haven’t been here in a while. That’s not too shocking. But the fact that I took 2.5 days off from work to be with my kids during their March Break which led into this past weekend, revealing that in the blink of an eye, 5 days have come and gone. Bizarre. And almost spooky.

John Lennon once said something like: “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans” and he sure wasn’t fooling. Where are we heading? Is humanity simply hurtling forward at break-neck speeds, trying to keep their collective heads above water while everything around us changes or explodes?

It sure makes me wonder.

But now I find myself with updates to put up but the desire to not do it all at once. So, since today is giving me the impression that it will be a good day as opposed to insane (which generally happens when I’m away from work for a couple of days), I might just pop in here to post tidbits of the last couple of days.

Let me start with yesterday: Chantale and I stayed in bed until about 12:30pm. We were up a few hours before but we really enjoy lounging around in bed listening to the Trivia Show on CJAD. Heck, I even called in for their audio quiz (on famous guitarists) but was stumped by the time I got on the air. Afterwards, we headed over to the Ovarium for our scheduled Floating Bath and Massage. Basically, our half-day spa of pampering 🙂 Once you allow yourself the right to be pampered, it becomes quite intoxicating 🙂

Feeling splendid by the end of the day, we headed back home, baked a pizza, and settled in to watch Chocolat. A most excellent and enjoyable movie! 🙂

Later, I’ll speak of Saturday.

Incredible!!!!!!!

I just approved two more tv spots! Along with the new 30 second spot of last week, you’re basically gonna be seeing my face quite often if you happen to glimpse an english Standard Life commercial! 5 commercials, 4 of which are speaking roles with 2 different on-screen shots in about a year’s time. Pretty incredible 🙂

So, the breakdown to date has been as follows:

Testimonials I (aug/dec 02): 30 second spot I appear twice.

RRSP (Jan/Feb 03): 15 second spot I appear twice in different shots from the 1st commercial

Testimonials II (mid-March/ early-June): 30 second spot I appear in twice

Testimonials III: 15 second spot I appear in twice

Closed Caption Mike: 10 second spot I appear in once (the commercial shows 3 Standard Life employees individually coming into frame in slow motion)

I’m going to make another request once they start airing to see if we can get another video put together of the new spots 🙂

Still on the air…

Hey there.

I’m pretty wiped right now but I realized I haven’t made public a bit of news which came my way a couple of days ago.

I made the cut for the third installment/ re-editing of the Standard Life commercials!! 🙂 These new ones are back at 30 seconds (versus the RRSP spots currently running at 15 seconds) and are supposed to run until August. At that point, I’ll effectively have been on the air for about a full year. Pretty heady stuff 🙂

That’s all I have to say right now. Mainly because I’m exhausted. G’night.
