The A/C isn’t working this morning…. but the HEATERS are on full-blast!!!! …. there is no air circulation and we’re coooooooking!!!!! ooooh… feel dizzy….

Good thing it’s casual day and I had a t-shirt on…

In other news…….. Chantale and I were pre-approved for a mortgage last night. Holy Moley!!! 🙂 What an exciting and scary feeling!!

Time to call a Real Estate Agent and start the search in earnest!! 🙂

@#$@# Money!

Yeah, I’m boiling a little right now. Chantale and I did our taxes last night which was pretty good. It’s nice to know we’ll be getting a bit of money back. It’ll help, of course, to pay off expenses.

This morning, however, seems one rife with aggravation. I called up IOF Forresters to cancel the Life Insurance Policy I have with them since, of course, I have one with Standard Life. Turns out there’s a 20-year termination penalty on the bloody policy! I never knew about this! That effing agent sure pulled a fast one on me back in 1999!!! If I cancel it today, it will COST me $802.68 !!! And the cash surrender value is only $106.27 !!! And I’ve already paid into this policy over $480 !!! Bloody hell!!!! Is THAT the only way they can hold onto clients? By LOCKING them in???!!!

I wish I had taken my LOMA courses 10 years ago instead of last year. Then I wouldn’t have been shafted the way I am feeling right now.

I also wish I were working for Standard Life way back then, too. Then I at least would have known better. At least WE keep our clients because of our products and service; not through underhanded tricks.

I’m just really frustrated right now and would love to hit something. grrrrr….

Food for Thought

Now, I’m not one to normally put something up from whatever’s going on with the War. In fact, I’ve taken to keeping my comments to myself for many reasons. Especially lately as our… [cough] [cough] illustrious leader [cough] has taken Canada to what is probably the most strained relationship we’ve had with the US. However, I found this article from the Globe and Mail quite interesting and just put it up as food for thought. I could have talked about the many Friendly Fire casualties, but that is quite the sore spot here in Canada…

Good_Enough Safe and Sound :)

Finally got in contact with who reassured me that she was ok. She deleted her LJ because she needed a break from it. In her own words, she’s “…doing quite fine” 🙂

In other news…

I gave my first presentation at work today. Weird. I was sure I’d done stuff like this before (actually, I know I have 🙂 ) but it was the first time I had to present something written by someone ELSE! That threw me off a little. As did the fact that it wasn’t only to my team, but a few other teams as well.

Anyhow, I will admit to being a little anxious about it but now that it’s over and done with, I’m fine 🙂

Work, as always, has been really busy. There are times I honestly don’t remember what my home looks like… I sometimes (sometimes) wish I could go back to just working alone in my little corner with no one to bother me 🙂 (Doesn’t last long, though, as I quickly got bored of that routine 🙂 ).

Not much else to say except that I’m Hungry!!!!!!

I should go out and hunt for food…

Concerned

Where are you?

emailed me this morning telling me your LJ was deleted. I posted to but haven’t heard back either.

We’re a little concerned! Hope you’re all right…

Tie-Red

Yup, I’m quite tired today. Almost felt like I went through the day in a complete haze. Not really normal for me lately.

On a nicer note, the Casting Sheets were put up today. Standard Life is preparing another commercial shoot in June and thus we had to put in our bids for a Casting Call before April 4th. I put my bid in as soon as the emails were sent out 🙂 Yes, I’m hoping to be picked again 🙂

With the casting sheet in, I should hear back during the week of April 4th to find out when the Screen Test will take place (there are 4 scheduled dates for it). If I pass the Screen Test again, I’ll be informed as to time and place for the actual shoot which will happen during the weeks of June 9th and June 16th.

I’m not going to set my hopes up TOO high (after all, I have had a lot of exposure in these commercials already) but I am hoping to make the final cut again. That would really rock 🙂

Oscar Fever

What a weird morning. I was filling out my Standard Life Marathon Oscar Pool Ballot and then went to photocopy it. As I retrieved the copy, I accidentally swiped my pen on my white denim shirt. Ack. The spirit of “MacGuyver” kicked in and reminded me of the steps required to remove ballpoint pen ink from clothing. I went to reception to hand in my ballot and then located some hairspray. I grabbed the key to the private bathroom and locked myself in. Stripped off my shirt (something kinda naughty about doing that, ya know what I mean? 🙂 ) and proceeded to douse the stain with the hairspray.

It’s a simple procedure really. You place a cloth or paper towel under the stain so it will absorb the hairspray you douse the stain in. Wait a bit and then rinse with lukewarm water and rub the stain away. For the darker spots, you might need to apply more hairspray. After the rinse, dry it off with one of those hand air dryers (finally! a real use for them!) and voila! All good! 🙂

And now, since it was this ballot that caused me the trouble, I figure I may as well present my picks 🙂 (Chantale has her own picks and I’ll list them, too. I don’t know how honest she was as I believe in some categories she chose something other than I did just so we’ll have something to pillow-fight about on Sunday night 🙂 ). Oh yeah, Sunday, we’re going to be the Greeters at church. Afterwards, we’re heading back to the Ovarium for another half-day spa pampering 🙂 Floating bath and Massage. Mmmmm :). At around 5 or 6, we’ll make our way back home, slip into our pjs, bake a pizza (mmmm!) and get ready for the Oscars. Doesn’t that sound like a great Sunday? 🙂

Ok, here are our picks!

Best Actor:
Mike: Jack Nicholson – About Schmidt
Chantale: Michael Caine – The Quiet American

Best Supporting Actor:
Mike: Chris Cooper – Adaptation
Chantale: Paul Newman – Road to Perdition

Best Director:
Mike: Rob Marshall – Chicago
Chantale: Martin Scorsese – Gangs of New York

Best Costume:
Mike: Chicago
Chantale: Chicago

Best Actress:
Mike: Nicole Kidman – The Hours
Chantale: Nicole Kidman – The Hours

Best Supporting Actress:
Mike: Meryl Streep – Adaptation
Chantale: Kathy Bates – About Schmidt

Best Motion Picture:
Mike: Chicago
Chantale: The Hours

Best Documentary:
Mike: Bowling for Columbine
Chantale: Bowling for Columbine

Best Foreign Film:
Mike: El Crimen Del Padre Amaro – Mexico
Chantale: The Man Without a Past – Finland

Whatever happens, we’ll have a ball, and that, my friends, is Entertainment 🙂

BabblePost

This is a post about nothing. About rambling.

I don’t have a point to make. My mind isn’t really on any points.

Maybe that’s the whole point of this? It’s all pointless.

One man’s hero is another man’s enemy. One man’s enemy is another man’s hero.

I don’t care. I’m fed up. I turned off the television because I quickly, very quickly, became bored with the phrase: “Target of Opportunity”. Shut up. For God’s sake say it once or twice but then don’t spend the next 30 minutes saying it over and over and over and over and over and over and… shut up.

Not for anything, but the reporting I saw tonight just came across as second rate. Although it was perfect chatter to fold laundry to. Or pass gas on.

Yes, I’m being crude. So what. This whole planet seems crude right now. Crude. Like in oil. Sheesh.

I just took a nice hot bath. Really hot. Felt like I was being cooked. Really felt refreshing in a sickening way.

Lucy Van Pelt said it first: “Stop the world, I want to get off.” I would change that to: “Stop the world, I want to throw a few people off.”

Blatant Blabbering. Just going in circles.

I’m fucken fed up of politics. ALL politics.

I’m gonna go lie in bed and read some comic books. That “reality” seems more real to me some days. And right now, I’d rather believe in a man that can fly as opposed to a man who wants to fry.

TV Gig

I’m in a rockin’ mood today 🙂 I’m party tired from going to bed after midnight again last night, but then again, that’s also why I’m in a rockin’ mood 🙂

I got a video copy of the other 3 television spots yesterday and they are GREAT!!! Honestly! Anyone who’s seen the other 30 second spots will be pleasantly surprised at the minor changes to them. all the employees come off as relaxed and calm. It’s really nice to see! And the closed captioning sponsorship ones are very nice. I laughed out loud when I saw my face opening one of them 🙂

Outside of the weeks of april 7, may 5, and may 12th, I’ll be on air until the first week of june. Rock and roll 🙂

closed captions can be seen quite often on NEWSWORLD with splashes here and there on Newsnet, Showcase, TSN, and History (China Beach is still a given! 🙂 ) The 30 second spots are everywhere. CH Montreal (global), CFCF news mainly, CKMI, CBMT, etc etc. It’s a really big push!

Heck, we’ll also be running during the Stanley Cup on CBMT 🙂 And if you watch David Letterman, 24, or The Agency on CH Montreal, there I’ll be 🙂

anyhow, gotta run now. Loma course time!!! Ciao!
