Chantale took me to see “Under the Tuscan Sun” yesterday night. She didn’t really have to as I would have wanted to see it any how, but since she was going out with a friend of hers, they asked if I wanted to come along.

Diane Lane. Italy. How could I say NO? 🙂 I saw the previews and didn’t think of it as a Chick Flick. But then again, I was one of only 3 guys in the theatre last night so someone must be labelling it that way 🙂

It was an interesting and fun movie. Not at all boring. The scenery was beautiful, characters were rich, and they got the “Italian way of Life” quite right. Yup, those characters… I recognized many of them 🙂

There were actually quite a number of quotes in the movie that I loved and wished I could remember all. However, I’m sure I’ll come across the book one day and will definitely pick it up. The one that sticks out the most is: “Never lose your childish innocence”. Says a lot.

On another note, I didn’t get a chance to mention yesterday how Sunday night, Chantale’s soccer team (The Grapes of Wrath) won 1-0 against The Devils. The only goal scored was by none other than my lovely bride! 🙂 (yes, I was at John Abbott cheering her on 🙂 ). I have to admit watching them play made me miss doing so. I haven’t played indoor soccer in almost 15 years… yowtch.

Ah well. Life changes. Constantly. 🙂

Love & Death

Ah. Brilliant. I’m a Humorous Tragedy. Fits quite right.

What's in a name? Don't know, but you're 'Romeo & Juliet!'

Let’s Start a War said Mikey one day…

I’m back.

I’ve had stuff to take care of/ deal with/ get a handle on and it’s all left me in a pretty pissy mood. Yeah, I’m still me. Yeah, I’m the carefree, fun-loving, groovy guy of always. But I’m also fed up with all the bullshit and won’t take any more. So if I stab you to the core and you don’t like it, piss off.

First off, a shout out to Chantale. Thanks for putting up with it all. You’re the absolute best and I love you to bits.

Next, a shout out to Janet. You know why. Thanks. You rock.

And now, the rip-roaring can begin.

This is my journal. MY. Journal. If I want to share a Private entry with my friends, I’ll do so. That’s the only f-ing self-censorship I will follow. If you read something here and it bothers you: too f-ing bad. Piss off.

If I want to vent, I will. And let me warn you ahead of time. I will be venting. Not whining. Venting. Because sometimes writing it is more fun than speaking it out loud. Especially if there’s no one around to hear me.

No, that’s not all I’ll be doing. My core, who I am, is a guy who enjoys life. It doesn’t mean I’ll be pissing red every post. In fact, the dichotomy between my regular posts and my current default icon tickles me in the most hysterical way. And if you don’t understand the word, get a dictionary.

Dig it or leave it. That’s the way it’ll be. Ruthless as a muthafucka. Assume all you want, but it’ll be easier if you get the facts first.

Re-connect

What a wonderful surprise I got today 🙂

I recently was contacted by someone who came across my interview with Len Strazewski of many years back. She was in the process of writing an article and wanted to talk to me about him.

I answered all her questions and she told me what it was all about. I teased him about having referred to me as a “nice fellow” and how I still have his signed JSA frame which he dedicated to “My Montreal Pal!” 🙂

Well, low and behold, he just emailed me to thank me for being a source and asking how things are going with me 🙂 What a nice feeling to re-connect with an old friend like that 🙂 Too cool. I told him Comicopia is still going strong, having just celebrated 13 years, and promised to send him an issue soon.

That was a really nice email to receive and sure made my afternoon 🙂

Better.

Well, I’m better. Slightly.
The LOMA class helped. The workout helped. It was really nice having the gym to myself. Heck, I may start going there at 2pm every day if it’s always that empty.
Thanks for the well-wishes, you 🙂

Can’t make the NaNo meetup on Friday. Chantale and I are driving up north to spend the Thanksgiving Weekend with her family. Apparently, I may be drafted into going Partridge Hunting. Hm. What would Danny Bodaboda’s head look stuffed on my mantle? 🙂

Imissmykids.

That kind of day…

You know which kind?
The one where you KNOW you better keep your mouth shut or you’ll end up saying some really nasty things to pretty much everyone. Innocent or not. Blind or not. Idiotic or not.
I so need some kind of release right now.
I’m gonna go head to the gym after my LOMA class. Running, Sweating, and Rowing should help me channel it all…

Pissed

I’m pissed this morning. Angry. Aggravated. Irritated.
And I don’t know why.
I just ran for a meeting at 9:30… to get there and find out it only begins at 10.
My left knee is killing me and that isn’t helping my disposition.
I hate waking up angry because I can never figure out why I’m pissed, just that I am.
I don’t like the kind of day this is turning out to be.

Vroom Vroom!

Due to serious issues with the shocks on the 2001 Civic LX Coupe, Honda Canada wrote to me recently profusely apologizing for the high maintenance on it. Followed very closely by a call from my dealer stating that we can close the lease in lieu of a new lease by returning the car and replacing it with the same 2003 model. There had to be a catch. But, sure enough, it was a dealer-wide event aimed specifically at getting these 2001s off of the hands of initial purchasers. And so, we made arrangements with our local dealer to replace our car.

Well, last night, Chantale and I went to Honda Ile Perrot (probably THE best Honda Dealer I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with in 15 years of owning a Honda!) and drove away with a brand new 2003 Civic LX Coupe. Midnight Metallic Blue. Extra features (now standard!) included 15″ mag wheels (tres cool). The best part of all this? Since the rates have changed dramatically, we’re actually paying about 30 dollars a month less for this new car than we did for the old one!

A new car, for less payments, at a lower cost, on an equal swap deal? Who could imagine! 2003 has definitely turned into a lucky year for us 🙂 New House, New Life, New Car, (even a New License Plate!), New Neighbors, New Neighborhood, etc etc. 🙂

To celebrate, we cracked open our last bottle of Beringer’s Founders Estate Chardonnay 2000 and held a picnic in our living room, enjoying our favorite vintage with baguette, brie, and smoked gouda 🙂

Life is Beautiful. Just like my Bride 🙂
