GameCube Widow

A buddy at work (hey Marc! have you decided to join LiveJournal yet?! 🙂 ), knowing that I’ll be spending November on NaNoWriMo, was kind enough to loan his GameCube System to Chantale for the duration of the project. Considering that he’s drowning in work and school projects, the system wouldn’t and won’t be missed.

So, we got the game this past Saturday and Chantale spent some time testing it out. Needless to say, while she played, I got things ready for NaNo thus getting some exposure to what it will be like: me in the basement writing, she upstairs playing GameCube. Initial thoughts? It’s just not the same. I guess I’ve gotten used to her being next to me playing on the Super Nintendo while I worked on the computer. Finding myself alone down there, even with music playing on the stereo behind me, just wasn’t the same. A small element of “lonliness” creeped into the mix.

This will obviously be an extra incentive for me. Get to the 50k mark as quickly as possible so I can get back to hanging out with my bestest-buddy/friend/lover: my wife 🙂 Until then, I will, of course, be an GameCube Widow… 🙂

Jitters

ya know that quasi-awake, jittery and somewhat clumsy, brain thinking too fast, images moving quickly and distractedly, feeling you get when you’ve been up way too late and probably ingested more caffeine than you have blood in your body? Yeah. That’s me this morning.

I’ve gotta prepare for a 9:30am meeting and have to go through a 75 page technical document prior to that.

Yeah, it’s Monday. It’s cold. It’s raining. It’s dark. Do you know where YOU are?

Tired Today…

Was up and on the road before realizing that I hadn’t set back my clock this morning. No big deal, I felt more that I had gained an hour to do stuff than lost an hour to sleep. Didn’t help as much as I thought at the stores, though, as they were pretty packed.

At any rate, this lazy, rainy, cold, Sunday has been spent cleaning up, doing laundry, etc. Chantale’s got an Apple Crumble in the oven as is coming over for supper tonight with his significant other. It’ll be about time he gets to see the Wedding pictures, I must say! 🙂

I figured I’d jump online quickly and see what’s going on. Since things seem to be pretty quiet here, I’ll go rest and/or read for a bit. It’s not that often (hardly ever!) that I get a chance to just lounge around 🙂

Another Method of Posting…

Oh yeah. A new feature that allows posting/ updating of LiveJournal by email, without having to be logged in. Now that, is mondo cool. Especially for things like writing a big post that you’d also like to keep a copy of… Or uploading stories or jokes or what-have-you.

Kudos to the team behind lj. This is definitely something I’ll be using in the future. After all, I’ve often written up my lj posts in an email and then simply logged-on, cut, and pasted it 🙂

I had more to say about today and things on my mind, but I’m tired now and want to go spend some time with Chantale. Oktoberfest supper was great. But boy did we eat a lot… 🙂

WTF

The only “vibe” I seem to be catching in the air today is one of crap. It seems, upon inspection of other journals, that I’m not the only one. I guess misery does love company, even the company it doesn’t realize is going through the same thing.

I’m looking forward to supper. But I’m really more looking forward to just getting out of here.

Got One!

Finally! Got someone to join the LJ crowd after hinting at it for a year!! Sheeesh! Some people. Thinking they’re too busy and all… 🙂

He says it won’t be until January when he actually begins to post, but I gave him a code so he could reserve his name… and I’ll keep badgering him to start submitting… 🙂

——-

In other news… It’s morning. I’m not as tired as I’ve been the last couple of mornings. And I’m hot. Yeah, it’s cold outside. But I’m a hottie, so there ya go 🙂

Dang but I’m looking forward to the weekend!

Bring on the Dancing Horses…

Ah, Echo and The Bunnymen… 🙂

Minutes are done and off! Church notes updated but nothing really layed out. Realized it was getting late and I wanted to do something for *me*

So I’m logging off and just relaxing a bit before Chantale gets home.

I’d like to say “where has this week gone?!” but I’ve been so swamped with work I know where it’s gone. I’ve lived through it! 🙂 A demain tout-le-monde!

Feasting

Mmm. I’m at home, getting ready to begin doing some final month writings in order to free up my November for NaNoWriMo. I’ve got my glass of homemade wine by my side, a plate of beef and chicken smothered in BBQ sauce and Heinz Kickers, and a bowl of tossed-garden salad covered in Catalina sauce. And it’s all very tasty 🙂

A Flock of Seagulls, Vonda Sheppard, and Chantal Kreviazuk are in the CD rotation list and I’m ready to write up the Minutes of last month’s Parents-Teacher Council meeting and then begin laying out the Church Newsletter for November.

So without further ado, let me get to it and check back in later 🙂

Food…

I’m still quite tired today, even though last night was an early one. Chantale and I got home at a decent time (just before 6pm) and started supper right away. I introduced Chantale to Coquilles St-Jacques which she really enjoyed. I like the fact that *I* introduced HER to a new seafood dish (considering she’s more a fish-lover than I am). We ate that with a lovely Canadian white-wine (Sauvignon Blanc from Jackson Triggs) and then adjourned to the living room where we enjoyed a tasty tuna salad while watching I AM SAM. A very enjoyable evening, indeed 🙂

By the way, I must say that I couldn’t believe the performance Sean Penn gave in I AM SAM. Really, really, incredible. Wow.

We ended up going to bed quite early as we were completely wiped – having had a very late night on Monday and then a very rough day on Tuesday. It was refreshing except we had to get up much earlier than usual this morning as well 🙂

The end of the day is fast approaching and thus I’m contemplating what supper will be tonight… Chantale has a work function which means I get to eat alone… which does not mean I have to eat badly 🙂 Ah! Spinach! I think I might just meat-and-potatoes myself tonight… Hmmm….

Convention Blues

I met up with Dog Savage and Ja’s Keeper at lunchtime to give them their copies of Comicopia. As usual, we spent some time discussing upcoming conventions and this gave me the urge to see what’s coming up. It’s a good(?) thing I’m broke because I would really love to attend some of these…

First, theres the Toronto Comic Con at The National Trade Centre from November 7-9, 2003. Some of the guests include: JIM STARLIN, STEVE RUDE, DAN BRERETON, DARICK ROBERTSON, Joe Rubenstein, J. TORRES, HOWARD CHAYKIN, PAUL GULACY, MARSHALL ROGERS, DON ROSA, PIA GUERRA, Dale Keown, KEN LASHLEY, J. BONE, KEVIN MAGUIRE, JIMMY PALMIOTTI, AMANDA CONNER, MICHAEL WM. KALUTA, PHIL JIMENEZ, TONY HARRIS, TERRY MOORE, TY TEMPLETON

It’s incredible that this con managed to grab such superstars!

Of course, Con*Cept is that same weekend, and the weekend after that is the Montreal Comix/Anime Expo. (this is the Hobbystar show which runs every year in Toronto. James Armstrong is trying to bring the success to Montreal). We’ll have to see.

Looking ahead, there’s Eerie Con at The Days Inn at the Falls (Niagara Falls, NY) from April 16, 18, 2004 as well as Ad Astra at the Crown Plaza Don Valley Hotel on April 2 – 4, 2004. Not to mention, C-ACE from June 4 to June 6, 2004 at the Chimo Hotel in Ottawa.

But, for now, no Toronto Comic Con, no Con*Cept, no Montreal Comix Expo, no Eerie Con, and no Ad Astra. C-ACE is a possibility, but mainly because I’d like to encourage the co-chair, 🙂

*sigh*
