Where’s everyone?

Friends page is strangely quiet this morning… uhm, I mean after noon… 🙂

I am currently at 5428 words. I’m beginning to feel like a freak.

Thanks for all the encouragement, btw 🙂

In the thick of things…

So far, I’ve put in a total of 2.5 hours into NaNo (separated by a 6 hour stretch of sleep) with an output of 3,676 words.

As I just wrote to I feel like I’m pushing a truck, uphill. I’m taking my required break now to grab some breakfast and stretch my legs. It’s a strong start but the real pain will come from keeping the creativity going until that magic number. boo-yeah. 🙂

Exhausted…

I have barely slept all week. No way I can keep this up any longer and thus will go grab a few hours of sleep before starting up again. I don’t know how good a start I got tonight but I’m at a point where I can take a break. 2,280 words in an hour. That’s a pretty good pace.

g’night.

Killing Time

Chantale had an awards meeting at her old branch yesterday. She actually ended up walking away with a number of awards! Way to go, amore! 🙂 The loot, when totalled, turned out to be enough Famous Players cash to get us into a movie a week for the next month. Tres, tres, cool 🙂

So, we went home, had a lovely supper, then headed out to watch Kill Bill Vol 1. I have to admit that I was shocked. Utterly horrific. I did NOT expect THAT level of violence and especially gore! Yes, it’s Tarantino. Yes, I love his work. But this time it’s as though he needed to take it to the utmost level. In fact, I have to also admit that it was in his origin-telling of one of the characters, done entirely in block-animation style, which totally revulsed me. Just because it was animated does not mean it is allowed to be even MORE brutal and horrific than live-action.

Luckily, that was the worst of it. Yes, even when Uma goes up against what looks like a hundred goons and rips them all to pieces, it didn’t seem as violent as the cartoon. Perhaps because it was more of the type of scenes I’m used to (person fighting for their life) as opposed to the cartoon (utter degradation and sheer joy of killing). Heck, the first view of “Go-Go”s mania is just as bad.

I’m still too shocked to rate this. All I do know, is that bastard Tarantino knows how to jerk his audience. With the way the movie ends, you HAVE to find out what happens in Vol 2…

Disgusting…

When I first looked at the map on the ncctimes website, it seemed quite easily obvious that the range of fires seemed too “set-up” to be natural. One was listed as an accident, one as arson, and the rest under investigation. Today’s update shows that 3 more of them were listed as arson.

It just seems too obvious that all this was done deliberately.

Over 1,100 homes destroyed and 15 people killed, not to mention all the destruction of Nature.

Utterly disgusting. The guilty should be found and hung on those selfsame trees…

Reaping Rewards

Well, I’ll tell ya. I never realized how much fun it was to redeem “points” for merchandise. I used to be the type who looked at the details of everything and never enjoyed those so-called “bonuses” simply because it never felt that way. “Oooh, I get a FREE CD if I redeem 100 points!”. Sure, but it’s a $10 CD for which you spent $1000 for. Just doesn’t seem fair, does it?

But, when you’re broke and the only thing you can spend are points… it’s a different matter 🙂

So I went ahead and redeemed some Air Miles for the Sherly Crow “Come on Come on” CD and the Soundtrack to 10 Things I Hate About You. And now I’m bouncing in my chair already singing the songs in my head. Cool. 🙂

Same thing for gift certificates! A couple of weekends ago, Chantale and I headed to the Linen Chest and used our Gift Certificates to pick up a Raclette Set. Oh yeah, yum! :>

It’s somewhat of a good day, I must say. But now I should go see what’s going on in San Diego… Chantale’s Uncle was evacuated yesterday…
