Every Girl’s Crazy ’bout a Sharp-Dressed-Man…

One of my teammates just told me how sharp I looked. I thanked him and told him I’m wearing a Dosseldorf. He freaked out with a “wow, that’s really something” and came over to feel the material 🙂 I told him it was a gift from Chantale and he just continued expressing how great a shirt it was and then another teammate came over to feel it. (snicker). They may report to me, but they’re not the sucking-up type. He’s a guy who appreciates fine clothes and was simply knocked out by my sharpness today 🙂

Moments like that help make bleah-y-starting mornings better 🙂

In other news… I’ve got a definite take on my novel for next month. You could almost say my entire life to date has been leading up to it. It’s going to be quite the book. Now, I’m just kicking around ideas for the title. The first one that came to mind was “Wasted Youth”. And then, strangely enough, Generation X kicked in with some ideas like “Youth Youth Youth” and “Kiss Me Deadly”. We’ll see what wins out…

Getting ready for the weekend…

Just random thoughts…

– I dropped by for a quick visit with my Sister-in-law. She’s working a few blocks from me now (at Place Montreal Trust) and I wanted to see how it was going. Plus, come on, she works in a lingerie shop. You don’t think it’s fun to walk around in one of those? 🙂 Still, it was nice to see her and nice to find out she got the position she was expecting. 🙂

– Chantale had a chance to speak with our Real Estate Agent recently. She confirmed that there was indeed another couple SERIOUSLY wanting our house. Apparently, they were so distraught over missing out on it that they abandoned their search and only just now re-started looking. Sorry. It was destined to be ours. Good luck with your search.

– I miss the kids. I’m looking forward to picking them up tonight…

– My dad built me a workbench for my garage!! How incredible is that? Totally unexpected! They’re coming over tomorrow to install it 🙂 Quite happy about this, indeed I am 🙂 This could mean that the shelf I’m currently using for my tools can end up being used in the basement. I can keep my homemade wine and homemade sauce on it. Cool. 🙂

– Hey! Comicopians! Remember that DEADLINE is not that far away!! Please make sure you finish up your sections before losing your thoughts on NaNoWriMo 🙂 Two sections and the Covers are already in.

– Well, I’ve got a meeting soon so I better prepare for it.

Insanity

It’ll get here soon enough, but the shivers have been running through my body for weeks now.

Quite the experiment. Onwards and upwards. Let the insanity begin.

Da Frost

Yup, woke up to Frost this morning. Wow. Insane how quickly we become used to wearing winter jackets and brisk-walking to work in order to stay warm.

After a really good evening, I ended up having a somewhat crappy night. I woke up at 12:30am and then never really fell back into a deep sleep. I woke up at 1am, 3am, 5am, and 6am. Ultimately getting up at 6:30am.

There’s obviously some internal stress I’m dealing with. Heck, it’s written all over my face. I really should try to get back into some form of meditation… get back in tune with the changing face of nature…

Life Reflections

A little while ago while I was in the midst of thinking back upon my life and the people I’ve known, I began to wonder about some of them. I wondered what they were up to and if they’d changed much. Sadly, as recently found out as well, not many do.

I once knew this person who seemed to spew complaints every time they opened their mouth. Really. There was nothing going as badly in the world as what was going on with and around them. Drama. Lots of it. I listened to them vent and spew, I offered advice and laffs when necessary, and threw parties when something good happened to them. Alas, too much remains unchanged.

For example, a few years ago, they were working at a job they hated. Truly hated. With a passion that would sometimes cause illness. Complained, bitched, and whined about the work, the people, the boss, the organization, etc. It got to a point that on some days, I truly had to avoid them because I just couldn’t handle that much constant negativity. Lo and behold, they finally moved on from that job. Not because they initiated a change, but because a change was made for them. At any rate, the new company was incredible. Joy. Allelujia.

Two days later the bitching and complaining began again.

Lord almighty if they could only look in the mirror, they could perhaps come to the conclusion that it can’t always be the world around them that sucks. Some of that suckage has to come from them, too.

A part of me has to sit back and laugh a little at this. They have not changed in all the time I knew them. Their lives continue to be petty and full of continual conflict. I hadn’t heard from them in a long while but when I did, I saw that the same conditions exist. All I can say is that I’m glad they’re no longer part of my daily life.

Oh, and before any misunderstandings crop up, this is not aimed at or about anyone currently reading this. If I wanted to do that, I would have made this a Private entry. As I’m very fond of stating, “Life is too short”. Too short for TOO many things: “to hold grudges”; “not to take chances”; “not to dream”; “to lose a moment of saying Thanks to anyone”. And, of course, “for fussing and fighting, my friends”.

“…I have always thought, that it’s a criiiii-ime…”

We’re getting a tree!

I forgot to mention that last night when Chantale and I got home, there was a note from the city of Notre-Dame-de-l’Ile-Perrot informing us that they’ll soon be planting a “Picea Abies” also known as a Norway Spruce in our front lawn. Kinda cool. We’ve wanted to plant a tree as part of our “laying a foundation” for our new home, and this just came in at the right time.

Of course, the Beatles fan in me is tickled by the fact that we’ll have Norweigan Wood facing our house 🙂

Just dropping by…

Too busy since Monday morning to come online and post anything. I was back at work today after 2 days of training and it’s taken me THIS long in order to get through all my messages and put things back on track. sheesh.

Last night was the 1st Parent’s Council meeting and it was packed in comparison to what we normally get! New influx of kindergarten kids will do that, I guess 🙂 We ran through the nominations of various positions and I was once again acclaimed as the Minute-Man (after flashing everyone present my tattoo 🙂 )

Not too sure what this week is going to be like, but I’ll be glad when Hump Day is over with. It’s just been a tough one…

Training Day One

Well, I’ll be in training the entire day today. Which means that it’ll be the first time in a long time that I was out of the office and away from a computer. I know I’ll be pretty busy the entire time, but it still feels a little weird to be so disconnected from “everything”. At any rate, I’ll finally get to see my footage in the results of the Standard Life corporate video I filmed a number of months ago 🙂

Wow, more flying~!

Time that is. Flew by this afternoon! I’m not completely done with the newsletter yet as I’m waiting on someone’s submission (she told me it was on its way now so I’m staying online checking my mail). But, I think I did rather well. I created a new name and masthead, wrote up an article as to why, linking it to the congregation, and then, I wrote up an Appreciation article on the Pastor. Chantale read all three of my revisions, each one lengthening the previous one, and she was quite touched by it. I may end up bringing a tear to someone’s eye 🙂

Speaking of bringing tears of joy, Chantale came back much earlier than I expected this afternoon, with an arm full of Old Navy clothes for me! Whee! 🙂 Love that stuff. The closest one is about 3 hours from here but at least we can head over whenever we feel like it 🙂 I admit to one sappy moment: after trying on all the clothes she bought me, she asked if I liked them and I replied, “I love them! You dressed me up with your love!” 🙂

Yes, it was that horribly sappy 🙂 It wasn’t meant to be! It’s just that the clothes were so warm and cuddly, I felt SO comfortable! It was as though she had wrapped me up in an all-encompassing hug! 🙂

I better save this before I make too many of you gag 🙂

Ended up going to bed at about 1:15am this morning. We knew we were getting up early today, but figured, what the hell 🙂 I had my alarm set for 7am and got up to get myself cleaned up. I woke my mother-in-law at 7:45am, telling her the coffee was on. I woke Chantale up at 8am. We all left at 8:30am. I went to take the dogs back to their house, and Chantale and her mom left to go pick up her sister.

Obviously, with little traffic and whatnot, I got to church relatively early but took the slow pace to chat with people and give a lending hand at the usher table, getting all the books in place. The sermon today was quite interesting and I had fun helping out with communion. I get a little bit of a kick out of changing things slightly. Those of you who were around remember how the first time I distributed the wine, I managed to change the order of distribution (bread, glasses, chalice instead of bread, chalice, glasses) 🙂 Today, instead of reading the ending Prayer they’re all used to reading, I used a different one (but still from the communion ceremony) from a different book. I like keeping people on their toes 🙂

I had lunch at with my Parents and actually had a really nice time. Really nice. No arguments, no negativity, nothing bad. We chatted about everything, talked about the upcoming holidays, etc. I even managed to pack up a SLEW more boxes to take home to shuffle through and see what gets thrown out and what gets kept. My dad gave me a few more tools, shovels, and even a broom 🙂 He showed me the designs he’s working on for a workbench he’s making me for the garage. Cool. 🙂

And now, I’m home alone. Music is on behind me (currently playing Don Henley), a fresh pot of coffee is brewing, and my notes are all in order. I’m ready to layout the church newsletter, after writing up a couple of articles, of course. So, I decided that before begin to click away for the next 4 hours, I’d jump online quickly and say Howdy with a post 🙂

See you later!
