Emotional Wreck Week.

That’s what it’s been feeling like. I’m going from the highest joys to the lowest angers, the highest energies to the lowest depressions, the brightest radiances to the lowest blues. Sometimes in just a matter of hours/minutes.

I hope for oblivion but dream of noise.

This week can’t end quickly enough…

Tossing and Turning…

just like the song… just like a salad…

I watched the clock tick by last night. 1am… 2:02am… 3:07am… 4:02am… 5:01am… 5:22am… and then my alarm went off at 5:30am and I got up, got dressed, and went shoveling. 50 minutes and a ton of snow later, I stumbled back into the house to take a nice bath, shave, and get ready for work.

Luckily the roads weren’t as bad as expected and I actually managed to catch the 7:59am train at Pine Beach.

But, now, here I am at work, exhausted, and in need of sustenance. At least I look great… like a well-preserved mummy… 🙂

Today’s Feeling…

If it were entirely possible…

What I really wish I could be doing right now…

Kicking back somewhere with Tom Petty, having a beer or coffee, and just talking, chatting, reminiscing, about George Harrison and Roy Orbison and what it was like working with them on The Travelling Willburys…

Still working…

almost 6pm and I’m toast.

Just having a really, really, busy day. First working day of the month is Stat time so I get to load up WebTrends and a few other in-house programs for web site monitoring. Lots of fun… except when some dependant systems don’t generate their required file and we (well, really, Marc-Andre) spend the morning/ afternoon hunting down the systems and support people involved. Sheesh.

In other news… Chantale managed to make Top Seller for Mutual Funds in her District!! What an honor for her 🙂 Scotia Bank has no idea how lucky they are to have her on staff. She achieved 183% of her YEARLY objectives. In 3 months. Rock on, love! 🙂 (can you tell I’m super proud of her? 🙂 )

Finally, in SF news…

Death fails to Silence SF Master
Spider Robinson authorized by the Robert A. Heinlein Trust to write a new RAH novel.

Vancouver writer Spider Robinson has been authorized by the Robert A. Heinlein Trust to write a novel, “ROBERT A. HEINLEIN’S VARIABLE STAR,” based on a detailed outline and notes completed by Mr. Heinlein in 1955 and recently rediscovered. The book was sold to editor Pat LoBrutto at Tor Books for a six-figure sum by Eleanor Wood, agent for both Robinson and the Heinlein estate.

“There simply are no words adequate to describe what it’s like to be writing with the Grandmaster, reports Robinson. I can imagine no greater honour, responsibility, challenge or sheer joy. I still can’t wrap my mind around it. The first book I ever read, Robert’s ROCKETSHIP GALILEO, found me when I was six — eerily enough, the same year he outlined VARIABLE STAR.”

Born in Butler, Missouri in 1907, Robert A. Heinlein is universally acknowledged as the greatest science fiction writer of all time. The 49 books and innumerable short stories he produced between 1939 and 1987 defined the field, and set a standard which even today is seldom achieved and very rarely surpassed.

He was the first writer named a Grandmaster by the Science Fiction Writers of America. He is perhaps most widely known outside the field for the novel STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND. A graduate of the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, he died May 1988 in Carmel, California.
Born in New York in 1948, Spider Robinson has published 30 books since 1973, and won the field’s top honour, the Hugo Award, three times. In 1984 the New York Times Book Review called him, ‘the new Robert Heinlein.’ His most popular series, about a tavern called Callahan’s Place, inspired the creation of the world’s largest non-porn newsgroup, alt.callahans. He currently writes an op-ed column, ‘Future Tense’, for Canada’s national newspaper, The Globe and Mail.

‘Maybe a musician asked to complete an entire album of unreleased John Lennon songs — from his best period — would grok how I feel’, said Robinson. ‘If, that is, half the proceeds were earmarked to promote one of Johnny’s dearest dreams.’

‘The VARIABLE STAR project is intended to help the Heinlein Trust continue to fund the annual $500,000 Heinlein Prize for commercial manned spaceflight, a goal Mr. Heinlein famously believed to be crucial for humanity’s long-term survival.’

I Hate People

If anyone knows the Anti-Nowhere League, and is familiar with that song, then you know exactly how I feel. Especially if you can imagine Animal’s raspy voice growling the words “I Hate People”

I just got back from the gym. Workout was pretty good, the burn and the pain felt great. It’s insane that physical exhaustion can feel good, but there you go. And then, as I’m getting dressed to leave, some guy comes in to change into his gym clothes to go work out. Nothing strange there, it’s the guy’s locker room after all and that’s where we change. Except, he takes off his boots and I almost lose my lunch. Last month’s lunch. This fucken guy’s feet stunk SO badly they could KILL Godzilla dead in seconds. I have no idea how the hell I survived.

I manage to get to walk to the sink a few times in order to gulp some cleaner air and when he finally leaves and the killer invisible cloud dissipates, I finish dressing and begin to head out. I stop at the sink again just to splash some more water in my face so I wouldn’t pass out. And then, passing in front of the bathroom stalls, I notice the fucken thing has not been flushed and there’s obvious human waste in it. I’m so fucken disgusted I want to blow the goddam building up. Except, there have been at least 5 to 7 guys who’ve come and gone in the locker room during the time I was working out, so who the hell knows who it could have been?

I fucken hate people some days. Truly fucken do. What KILLS me is that the gym is PRIVATE! That means you have to have a properly-cleared pass in order to get in! Why the fuck would you NOT clean up after yourself? Christ, why would you even COME to the gym to work out if you ALREADY stink? God I don’t even want to know if that guy wipes the equipment after each use.

I’m so sorely tempted to just get myself a Concept II Rower for the house. That’s really the only MAIN reason I go to the gym. I can walk/ run home every day. I can work out with free weights (which are obviously better than the machines). I can use the ab machine as well. As much as I enjoy the treadmill, I wouldn’t miss it too much if I had a rower.

I’m so disgusted that all the “feel good” endorphins pumping through my system after the workout are nullified. I. HATE. PEOPLE. I work with ADULTS, dammit! Why do they have to be so fucking disgusting!?!!!

Leak Discovered

Well, I found out this morning that the leak which destroyed the top of my bookcase in the basement 2 days ago did not come from the bathroom sink but from the back of the washing machine. This came too late to save a couple of books as well as more of the bookcase when I discovered this morning that the leak was still there. Ah, the joys of owning a home…

In other news… it’s Friday and my upper torso is trying to prevent me from moving. I’ll teach it to try to get the better of me! Extra reps at the gym today! Take that you silly bones and muscles!! Gee whiz, you’d almost think I was masochistic!! That reminds me of a joke of a mascohistic/sadistic couple!

Masochist: “Hurt me!”
Sadist: “No! I wanna see you suffer!”

🙂

Okay, I think I need more coffee…

Italian Blood

I just called Dundees Bar & Grill for reservations for next week for my Team.

The girl on the phone (obviously a francophone) took down all my information (in english) and at the very end she mentioned “by the way, you have a really nice voice”

I swear I could feel her blushing on the other end. I had to laugh 🙂 I thanked her and she sounded like she got even redder 🙂

Nice moments to a kind of bleah-y day 🙂

Hurt Me

My abs are screaming at me. Fine, I tell them. You don’t like it? Disappear! 🙂 (I just came back from the gym. I love the 3pm workout. Gives me enough energy to get through the rest of the afternoon AND there’s never anyone around. Gives me a chance to listen to better music 🙂 – There’s just something special to having ZZ Top belt out “Legs” while you’re pounding away on the Treadmill… 🙂 )

In other news… I’m getting pampered this weekend. Chantale booked a hairdresser’s appointment for both of us at 9am and then she booked me for a facial at 4pm. Hm. All I need now is to book a massage and I can come back on Monday and tell everyone I spent the weekend being waited upon and touched by a slew of different women 🙂

(I just read this to Chantale and she called me a ButtHead. Isn’t that funny? 🙂 )

Bla Bla Bla

ya. bla bla bla.

Just in one of those weird kind of moods which make my head spin as I’m lost in a verbally-confusing spillage of nonsensical words the likes of which bring to mind old 80’s computer video games.

Alas, has the brain slipped right out of its pan? Who knows for sure?

In other news… my abs are arguing with me right now. I made it to the gym yesterday afternoon after way too many days/weeks off. I think I found a nice time to go: 3pm. No one around, peace and quiet. I’ll be attempting to make this a regular time.

Last night Chantale and I headed to her parents’ place to pick up a desk. Unfortunately, the guy who was supposed to help us was too sick to meet us there and thus we ended up taking the desk apart and bringing it home in pieces. The final pieces we’re picking up tonight which means we get to put it all back together again. And then, all that space that was cleared up this past weekend can be re-arranged and given over to the desk so Chantale can finally work without choking from the clutter currently invading my desk. 🙂

more bla bla bla later as I have some stuff I want to write up but am just lacking the desire to do so. blame it on the cold. :>
