…maaaannnn….

I’m exhausted and I’m still at work. Having a tough time with a silly little app and really need to fix it before we head home. Luckily, is at our data center trying to get to the root of it while I’m here keeping everyone up to date on what’s going on, looking for solutions.

Doesn’t mean he’s not getting as tired of this as I am 🙂

back to the updates…

Cleaning Weekend

Yup, this weekend turned out to be one of cleaning/ clearing stuff out of the basement! We managed to put together two big garbage bags of stuff to throw out and 4 large boxes of stuff to recycle! Insane, really. But, wow, what a change. Re-stocked/ Ordered my CDs and Videos and boy does neatness make a difference 🙂 Threw out books and articles I hadn’t seen in more years than I cared to admit and even, finally, parted with many items I’d been dragging around for same. Progress.

Btw, speaking of which, just a generally curious question to y’all out there. Do you have a favorite movie which you do NOT own? It’s just something that I wondered about as I rifled through my video collection, pulling out the tapes I now own on DVD of which I obviously no longer require 🙂

Overall it was a generally nice weekend with a good sense of accomplishment in terms of what was done. And still, it was a fun family project with everyone helping out. Unfortunately, I was up way too late last night which means that I’m struggling through some sleep deprivation today… But, I’m very busy which is making the time go by quickly.

And now, I’m hungry, but I have no food to eat. sigh. vicious circle 🙂

Beatlemania Lives On

I’m holding in my hands, the FIRST hardcover book which contains an editorial credit/thanks to me. How exciting is that? 🙂 All of my previous published editorial credits to date have come from Scarlet Rose Productions where I was the Line Editor (and technically still am as although the company has “relaxed” its publishing schedule, it hasn’t actually closed its doors or fired me 🙂 ). All other companies I’ve worked to date have never made it to a published book (Tesseract comes to mind).

But, for now, let’s get back to the latest book: Before They Were Beatles

Copies are now available at Amazon.com and at Barnes & Noble. You can always order a signed copy from the author (Alan J. Porter, otherwise known as ) from his website Before They Were Beatles where you can also get t-shirts, mugs, or caps 🙂

Alan, thanks again for the opportunity, and thank you for the book and the mug 🙂 It’s great finally seeing the book after all these years, but it’s also difficult to read it as a “reader” since I keep having to hold myself back from wanting to make more changes… 🙂

It’s Morning

Yesterday was insane. Let’s hope today is less-so.

Potter news of the day: “Potter’s GOBLET Has Visions of Dollars”

According to Mike Newell, the fourth film in the HARRY POTTER franchise, THE GOBLET OF FIRE, will be the most expensive film ever made. Warner Brothers is reportedly ready to open their fat wallet and hand over $130 million for the film, $36 million more than LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING. Newell recognizes the responsiblity of making the film with the enormous budget. “These things are not like ordinary films. They are world events,” he says. “I have millions of 10-year-olds who must not be disappointed. Making HARRY POTTER is like being President of Brazil. It is a colossal undertaking.” Casting is currently under way for the film. Source: Zap2It

President of Brazil??

Speaking of movies, I saw “Maid in Manhattan” last night. It was cute/ fun. The star of the movie has to be the kid who played the 10-year old son 🙂

Love

My wife just called me to tell me she loved me.

That’s a very nice kind of call to receive just out of the blue. 🙂

Movie Post

I saw a number of movies recently on DVD. Unfortunately, a lot have been pretty bad.

Kissing Jessica Stein: awful. I’ve seen movies before where I couldn’t much care about the main character. This one topped them. Wow. I wouldn’t even want this girl around much less as a friend! Bo-ring. Avoid.

Planet of the Apes: sheesh. When I first heard about this movie being re-made, I asked WHY. Ok, I actually screamed it out. Now, after having finally seen it, I still wonder. It was pretty bad. The original, even after all these years, is still light-years better than this pile of dirt. Oh lordie did I ever cringe at the end, totally seeing that “CMOS second-coming”. Avoid.

The Scorpion King: Not bad. Not at all what I expected coming out of the Mummy movies, with enough of a “cringing” feeling at the “idiot sidekick” routine. But, having Marcellus Wallace/ Kingpin play Baltazahar helped 🙂 Not much of a story to it, and what there is is quite easy to guess at, but enjoyable nonetheless. (BTW, Francisco, you’ve gotta take it back. The box says WIDESCREEN but the DVD is actually PAN/SCAN)

Thanks to Francisco for generously lending these to me 🙂

Secret Post Revealed

Howdy. To fill in those of you who replied to my private post, I give you now, my reason:

I was curious to know/ see who was actually loading my page up, much less reading it. All responses were greatly appreciated and those of you who loaded the page, I still got that info.

It was, however, also quite funny to see who DIDN’T load the page, especially as that was the main motivation behind this little test. 🙂

For those of you who didn’t see the secret post. Don’t worry about it. 🙂

In other news… I installed our new dishwasher all by myself yesterday. Yup, quite proud of that fact as I’ve never fooled around with plumbing or electricity before. Very satisfying experience and nice to finally have one. Cleans rather well, too, and it’s much quieter than I expected it to be. Yay us 🙂

Cold.

Freaking Cold.

Anyone else having trouble getting up in the morning? It’s almost as though I’ve gone into a frozen state overnight and can almost feel the ice particles drop off my skin as I arise and stumble in to the bathroom… bah.

Had a very relaxing night yesterday. Chantale and I threw a pizza in the oven when we got home and after getting cozy, we popped open a couple of German beers and settled in to watch “Catch Me If You Can” followed by a couple of Babylon 5 Season 4 episodes.

I must admit it was a very good movie but not as good as the German Beer and Delissio Pizza! 🙂 Of course, the entire combination plus the coziness of the house and the crackling fireplace, sure made it heavenly 🙂 Heck, it was so comfortable we both completely forgot it was only a Wednesday night and not a weekend! Definitely need a lot more nights like that.
