Another Cancel

After over 6 years, I’m finally cancelling my pager. It feels really weird to do so, but, the reasons for my having it have changed. It started with work and then became personal (and personal messages – I actually built an entire dictionary using numbers!) and then a means of contact with my kids. Now, I have a cell phone I use a lot more often (which I had also got at the same time) and ever since I bought an updated one last January, it’s been of more use.

Basically, it broke down to my paying $10 a month for something for which I got little use out of except as an occasional alarm clock. Why piss away another $120?? Add it to the Gym cancellation and I’m suddenly saving $240 a year. (considering I just paid for my car registration at $255, that really helps!). I’m just trying to get the best bang for my buck. And so, another thing from my past disappears. And I don’t mind at all 🙂

And thus ends my work day. It’s been another long one but tomorrow will be longer! (I have 3 scheduled meetings already! ack!) so I’ll take the rest/ break. We’re heading out to church tonight for the Pancake Supper prior to the Ash Wednesday service. Mmmm pancakes! 🙂

Strange…

There’s something missing in this week and I’m not sure what. Two bizarre days in a row leave me feeling that things are just a little… “off”. Even with all the rest I had last night (getting home earlier than usual, Chantale cooking a wonderful and tasty supper, drinking some good homemade white wine, and then basically relaxing on the couch (after I did some quick groceries and worked out), reading while Chantale played SIMS) and getting to bed early, come 2:30am I was wide awake wondering “what the fuck’s going on?”

Monday was harsh. Yesterday was crap. Today seems to be like walking through a sleep-induced haze. I’m pushing myself to do things/ get things done and I still feel driftless. sigh.

Lent. What are you doing for it, if anything? Personally: giving up soft drinks (I want them eliminated completely from my body), giving up procrastinating (too easy to give yourself an excuse not to do something) and setting concrete plans, and continue what I started (nightly workouts).

To be honest, these are all things I decided upon last week, before even realizing Lent was upon us 🙂 Still, I’m all for the Power of Positive Change.

grumble…

yesterday I woke up in a terrific mood and the day pretty much got quickly shittier. at least I was so busy that in the blink of an eye it was over. i did get to enjoy The Usual Suspects and Quills (geoffrey rush was incredible, i must say) before hitting the sack, though.

today, I woke up angry and agitated. here’s hoping i end up with a fantastic day in a reverse of yesterday.

Cancelled!

The email has been sent. I’ve just cancelled the Gym membership I had with the Gym at work. After that last debacle, I just knew I couldn’t stick around any more. What with my new routine of which I’m thoroughly enjoying (and have mapped out a 3-month progress chart) and the coming soon of good weather, I decided I’d be happier with the extra $5 in my pockets per pay. (Yes, $120 a year is phenomenal for a gym, but when you’re not using it or not enjoying it, then it’s nothing more than money being pissed away that can be used for better things – heck, even a new bike!)

Working out 7 nights in a row. I’ve never done that before, ever. I’m loving every minute of it.

(in other news… I can’t believe how bloody fast today has gone!!! wow!)

Beatles 4-ever

We had a really great weekend which was both an absolute surprise and a blessing. I picked up the kids early on friday, picked up Chantale, and had supper at my parents. Saturday, we did some shopping (bought Chantale a birthday gift 🙂 ) and took them to Komico for our last month’s worth of comics 🙂 That night, we watched Tuxedo. Everyone was in a great mood and it was just such a comfortable family-time weekend! Even Sunday was spent doing nice things together. Chantale and I ushered at Church and the kids helped us out. We then took Melyssa to a birthday party and James to McDees (promised) and then to the library. At night, we enjoyed some GameCubing before calling it a night. Small, simple, things, but very much done in a fun-loving and happy way. We are so looking forward to spending March break together!! 🙂

One cute thing which happened: the kids are both learning a song for a “Friendship Assembly” they’re going to be holding at their school. The song, which they had to practice all weekend? “I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends” 🙂 The Beatles keep on living! 🙂 James actually told his teacher that “Daddy worked on a Beatles book!” and they loved the fact that Saturday night I took out my Sgt. Pepper’s cassette (yup, don’t have it on CD yet) and put it on so we could practice 🙂

One of the biggest joys I have is teaching/ passing on good music to them 🙂

Pump it Up

Last weekend, as I sat in bed contemplating my navel, I made the decision to re-take charge of my life, beginning with my body.

It was thus that when Monday night came around, I went into the basement, grabbed a hold of some workout material I hadn’t looked at in about a year, flipped open to some routines, and got down to it.

As early as Wednesday, I was aching in places I haven’t ached in a long time, proof that my time at the gym hadn’t been touching upon all the muscle groups I wanted. Ah, but it felt so good even beside the funny walking I had to do until my bum and thigh muscles could relax.

I’m supposed to feel better within a week, and start seeing visible results within 3 weeks. Considering how the first week is over and I have no trouble getting to the workouts, this is one routine I’m not going to give up so easily. Best of all, I’m working out with my equipment, on my time, in my house, with my music (AC/DC, Aerosmith being the current blend 🙂 – there’s just something so right about pumping iron with hard-pumping beats).

Extra bonus: I like how I feel, how I look, and especially that gleam in Chantale’s eyes when I flex in front of her 🙂

Crazy…

Chantale and I went to see “BIG FISH” last night.

Never in my life could I have imagined balling like a baby at a Tim Burton movie…

Don’t ask, you wouldn’t understand…

Better mood than the last time I was here (I’d rather be pissedangrystressed than depressed) but getting a little fed up of the overwhelming deadlines. Do me a favor and flush this fucken week down the toilet.

Ka-tet

The weirdest thing happened to me this morning. I got on the train and the car was full. I walked halfway through it until I found the one free seat. The guy sitting there got up so I could get the window seat and once settled in I pulled out my book to read. It is Stephen King’s Dark Tower IV – Wizard and Glass. After a few pages, I happen to glance to my right as I noticed the guy was also reading and I’m always curious to see who’s reading what. Could you freaking believe this guy was reading the SAME book?! A different release version as we had different covers, but based on the same idea. I turn my book to him and say “can you believe it?!” and he just smiled and nodded. I continued reading but again after a bit I wondered how far he was into it. I glance over again and he’s on page 72. I was at page 77. Too bloody bizarre. It’s not like this book was just released (for example when Harry Potter 5 came out, you could easily count a number of people reading it at the same time), far from it! So who could ever have imagined something like this happening?

A freaky start to the greatest day in the week 🙂 Tonight, I pick up the kids. Tomorrow is Standard Life’s annual party. Sunday, I disappear. Oh yeaaaaah….

Wedding Site

As is obvious from the fact that it hasn’t been updated in ages, I’ve finally uploaded some Wedding Photographs to my site. Just a small Photo Sampling but you can find them in the Photograph section at http://www.savageland.com/wedding.html

Whenever I look at them, I can still remember all the feelings/ emotions of going through that magical day…
