huh.

i’m being ganged up on.

while drowning in a pool of my own paperwork.

and struggling against semi-self-imposed barriers of time.

and railing against mind-numbing boredom.

and forcing through the issue of fatigue.

and although it all seems temporary at the moment, there’s still a gap of time and energy to pass through.

the body can only take so much.

it’s no longer a question of “something’s gotta give” it’s more a definite “something’s gonna give”.

Spam Fiction?

Okay, this is getting ridiculous.

For the last couple of weeks now, I’ve been receiving short fiction spam pieces at my new email account. one or two sentence subjects, and then a couple of short paragraphs of a story of some sort. I’ve been deleting them outright after the first one, although some do get opened because the sender names seem slightly familiar, but I see no ryhme or reason to them. No real attachments to speak of and since I use a text-based email reader, I’m pretty safe from malicious code although I can tell when there’s some included. I’m just wondering “what the heck”?!

Anyone else getting emails like this? I’m just wondering where they’ve gotten my account from since it’s not one I’ve really publicized anywhere…

Proud Papa

Here’s another one of those nice moments. Melyssa’s very first piece of fan art for because of her wonderful Babysitter’s Club graphic novel, and she put it up on the lj! You can see it via this link:

Wow. James’ first letter to a comic book was printed, and now Melyssa’s first fan art gets printed. Yup, I’m a Proud Papa 🙂

Web Counter Crap

Lovely. Just noticed today that all my Web Counters from digits.com have suddenly disappeared into the ether. I know they were working earlier this week as I’ve been to my sites and saw the numbers. Tonight, however, I get an ERR2 on all my pages and when I query digits.com they don’t recognize any of the counters. The main site, the SRP site, the Comicopia site, my Writing site, our wedding site, even my parenting site.

Bloody hell. 10 years of site hits dead. bah. I’m going to bed.

Review Blog Note

Greetings. I just realized that I never really noted here (or if I did, I don’t remember!) that although not a frequently-updated blog, I have been posting reviews on my other account:

Which is why you don’t usually see comic reviews on THIS blog 🙂

That is all. Supper beckons.

WCs and FFs

Had an interesting bit of insight last night as I sat on the train home laying out some scratchings and scripts for a weekly webcomic. Once you’ve got a format established (page size, panel layout, etc) the writing gets built into that structure… very similarly to how you would structure a Fast Fiction piece.

The main difference between the two (storywise) is that the FFs are one-shots (usually) giving out one idea, whereas the continuity of the WCs mean you’re using regular characters to space out your ideas, one pitch/chapter/week at a time.

Makes me glad I had begun working some FFs the same way with the “My Eyes Burn” series. Makes me happy knowing my brain can function in that mode, too!

Oh? No, I don’t have an announcement to make. Not yet at any rate.

Monday on a Tuesday…

“I don’t wanna live here no more, I don’t wanna stay
Ain’t gonna spend the rest of my life, Quietly fading away

Games people play, You take it or leave it
Things that they say, Just don’t make it right
If I’m tellin’ you the truth right now, do you believe it
Games people play in the middle of the night…”

– The Alan Parsons Project, “Games People Play”

Fond Memories

As a reminder of this wonderful 3rd Wedding Anniversary, along with the lazy and relaxing breakfast at Chez Cora’s in Vaudreuil, overlooking the water, to driving to Old Montreal and walking around during an absolutely beautiful weather-day, to seeing the filming of a Bob Dylan movie (the scene we saw featured The Beatles! cool!) to a wonderful lunch at Le Jardin Nelson to a phenomenally restful evening with a very happy son…

“Together” from Susan Lordi’s Willow Tree collection

The quote is: For those who have found their true partner in love and life

Fits perfectly 🙂

3 Years and Counting

Three Years Ago today… I said “I Do” and promised that “I Will…”

I’ve been living that promise for three years now without one day of regret. I did, I do, and I would definitely do so again. Without hesitation.

Happy Anniversary, Chantale. Ti amo. Sempre. 🙂
