Chantale and I have been enjoying another one of those Talent Search shows, this one called Last Comedian Standing. It’s been really fun watching these comedians from across the US try their skill in this contest. I keep thinking, however, how much I would laugh if one of them were to come out with a “How to Survive a Horror Movie” … 🙂 But then I remember that I haven’t heard of LC still doing stand-up comedy…
Oh yeah, I also have to admit to watching Canadian Idol recently and just busting a gut at the process. Outside of Sass Jordan, I’m not at all familiar with the judges. But man are they funny!! 🙂 And, I’m sorry, but comparing the two Idols, I definitely have to say that Canadian Idol is a lot more fun and entertaining to watch than American Idol has ever been.
Now speaking of Idols, I’ve been throwing this question back and forth with Chantale and haven’t really reached a conclusion. So, I’ll throw it out to all of you. If you had your 2/3 minutes of chance to sing in front of Judges, what song would you choose to try out on them and why?
Apparently…

*Edit: Duh. Warren Ellis. Wow, that’s really someone to be stalked by! LOL!
– Wow. Ronald Reagan died on Saturday at 93 after fighting Alzheimer’s for 10 years… A little shocking.
– A friend of mine emailed me to let me know that her daughter won the MVP award for 2003-2004 in Track & Field last week. She also received awards for soccer and basketball – her other two passions. At the SSIAA track & field meet held in St-Jean on the 19th and 20th of May, she placed 1st in Javelin, 2nd in 100m Hurdles, and 5th in High Jump. And this past weekend, she got gold in Javalin. Very cool beans 🙂
– I had a strong moment of dizziness just before lunch. Felt the world explode in my brain and energy completely drain from my body. Seems like I needed a shot of sugar. I headed out to Second Cup and got myself a coffee and a date square. Helped.
– Almost 2pm and I find myself quite tired. Energy drain. Definitely looking forward to being on vacation at the end of the month…
My mind is somewhat set on rambling mode right now. Thought patterns just jumping around all over the place… We’re getting an estimate for installing a fence tonight. I tell ya, it’ll feel great to finally have a fenced in back yard. That way, the dog can run free without us worrying where it’s going, and, I won’t have to (hopefully) see much of my neighbors 🙂
Oh I’m sore today! Spent about 5 hours yesterday sanding down and then staining our patio. Lots of work, but wow what a difference! 🙂 It soaked up two entire gallons and Chantale’s gonna pick up one more so we can give the deck a second coat and put some finishing touches on some of the smaller pieces. To unwind after all that, we basically lay back on the couch and watched Office Space 🙂
Did you want to hear my thoughts on Harry Potter? No? Ok. 🙂 I can at least tell you that I liked it and found myself entertained from the get-go. The two hours literally flew by to the point that I couldn’t believe the end had come when the movie was over. I guess a part of me was expecting the regular “bye” at the train moments and that’s not at all how it ended. Different director, different vision, of course. It did feel a little like the movie was too short to properly do the book justice. Maybe upon re-reading it I’ll feel that more strongly. I’ll be seeing it again with the kids soon and was actually glad it didn’t turn out to be as scary as I had imagined it to be!
Just had a good-bye lunch for muadib_ca who’s last day working for me is today. He’s off next week to fix up his new house and when he returns to work on the 14th, he’ll still be sitting in front of me but working for the Core Technology team. At least he’ll still be around for a while so that’s a good thing 🙂
We went to Weinstein & Gavino’s and it was great (and filling!) I had a really great Fettucini alfredo mixed with mushrooms, peas, and a dash of pepper. Mmm! Nothing like hand-made pasta 🙂 A nice ice-cream would have topped it off wonderfully but I didn’t feel like indulging THAT much 🙂 It was nice being out on Crescent and seeing the tension start to build up for next week’s F1 celebrations. For those not in the know, next week Crescent street closes down and F1 booths are set up to get the city in the mad mood for the Grand Prix next weekend. Lots of incredible cars (walked by a classic Corvette just now!) and tons of tourists. It’s quite a show 🙂
And speaking of shows… Harry Potter in 19 hours… not that I’m counting or anything 🙂
I’m not normally someone who posts privately. I know there are a number of friends out there who read my journal who don’t want to be bothered with getting their own accounts. Plus, I figure, I’m pretty much an open and honest guy (and have been for as long as I can remember – explaining the addiction to BBSes and early Web journaling) and if there’s anything I really need to keep private, well, that’s something else my wife is there for: to be my sounding board. Besides, I’m old enough to realize that everything becomes known at one point in time so why bother falling into the traps of trying to remember what’s supposed to be secret and what isn’t? 🙂
However, I must admit that there are definitely times when a private entry, such as the one I wrote up recently, do help to put things in perspective and thus set my brain at ease. Heck, it’s almost like writing out a plot summary and linking one thought pattern to possible action and reaction (or cause and effect). And in those moments, when you don’t want your thinking process be perceived in the wrong way, it’s just easier to keep it private.
And that is my “ah-ha!” moment of today 🙂
No, really, Guess.
Give up? Ok, I’ll tell ya.
I spent about 20 minutes on the phone before discussing Melyssa with her mother. End result? Beginning June 27th and for alternating weeks thereafter, I will have both kids with me for the summer. At my house. Until school starts. Including overnight.
I feel like a super-powered negociator. All hail.
Random 1: Interesting. Got to speak with the doc this morning. He left me a message yesterday on my voicemail. He had stated that Melyssa was strongly allergic to dogs and should not be put in an environment where she’s exposed to it. However, he is NOT saying that she should be kept from me and offered that she could take an antihistamine during that time as a compromise. He was informed that whenever she was returned, she was suffering severe reactions. When I spoke with him this morning, I asked what these severe reactions were and he said itchy red eyes and scratching arms. I told him WE had NOT seen any such “severe” reactions every time she’s been with us and it’s been almost 2 months now. He stated that he’s getting conflicting reports in that “madame” says Melyssa’s reacting and I’m saying she isn’t. When I asked when he was last given an update he said it was at her last visit where he was urged by “madame” to write me a letter. Oddly enough, the date of her last visit was in February. We only got Casey in March. Cute. In a disgusting kind of way.
Random 2: It’s sunny and finally nice outside. Yay! Here’s hoping it lasts into the weekend so we can finally stain our patio!!
Random 3: Harry Potter @ 9am on Saturday at the giant screens at the Kirkland Coliseum! Woo-hoo!!!
Random 4: The Haunted House @ 8pm on Saturday! Dinner and Show of what I remember to be a very engaging performance!
Random 5: Cozy sleep would be nice. 🙂
Random 6: I’m somewhat hungry but have nothing to eat and not too sure what I would be in the mood for either. Guess I’ll make myself a coffee 🙂
