here, there, everywhere. just not online.

being a househusband is a LOT of work. Some nice perks (like being at home for one!) but a lot of things to do.

having a great time with the kids, though. Could easily do this for a number of weeks more. however, it doesn’t work out that way this year. still, i needed this week off more than I could imagine. funny how it was only YESTERDAY and a bit of Today that I finally managed to “relax”.

Just came back from a small jog around the neighbourhood while the kids followed me on their bikes. Very hot out there. A nice shower will do wonders 🙂

Also, as I didn’t want to really have to provide Alan a vial of my blood, I’ve been working on typing up the edits to his Beatles MS.

And now, more work to be done, so I be off. going to rent our tuxedos after I pick Chantale up from work! Ciao!

Hark!

Gak.

Yes, Gak. Son of Gook. Beloved Leader of Gobble-Dee.

(snicker)

I’m feeling somewhat giggly. Is that a happy/ tired combination? Must be 🙂

I’m tired because I’m so whelmed with work that I’m over. I’m slogging through it, though, as I have no choice but to finish 3 big projects by tomorrow since I’m off next week. And, of course, what’s a vacation without massive stress the week before?

But, what the heck. It’s time to prove I’ve got what it takes to lead a team of 6 responsible for several million-dollar applications for which many departments make million-dollar decisions on. I guess that’s where the giddy stress comes in. 🙂 Good thing I’m a writer. It makes it easier for me to state my cases.

In other rambling thoughts…
– I started hitting the gym again this week after being away for 2 months due to the move and everything around it. Felt really good to do so and I actually enjoy the minor aches during the day which are my body’s way of telling me it’s putting its muscles back in place. 🙂 I’m bizarre that way.

– I’ve got lawn. It’s nice. It’s hard to maintain as I can’t get the sprinklers to co-operate. But it’s nice. happy sigh. Come visit! 🙂

– I’m off next week. Have I mentioned that? I. Can’t. Bloody. Wait. I’m in such dire need of time away that I’m starting to feel loopy. I’ve got some fun stuff planned with the kids but I also will need to take some time to myself to catch up on some other “computer” stuff. Alan! You will have your file next week! This I promise! Your File, or a Vial of my Blood for which you can burn in a pyre or something!

(have I mentioned I’m feeling loopy?)

– Now that Chantale’s finished the latest Harry Potter, I’m allowed to finish it, too 🙂 Passed the 400 mark and am thoroughly enjoying it 🙂

And now, before I get this thing any longer (and thus lose whomever I haven’t lost at this point already!), I will depart with another Quote/Thought:

La vita non é nulla sensa l’amicizia
– Cicerone

Life is nothing without friends
– Cicerone

CRAZY!!!!

I can’t believe this!

I feel like it’s THURSDAY already… and it’s only Tuesday noon!!!!!!

This almost makes me worried about what I’m going to walk into when I get back from my vacation next week. If I’m this busy on a day-to-day basis, what will happen when I’m off an entire week! … eek. I hope the 21st is not going to be so insane that I jump out of a window as soon as I walk in…

Good Morning!

I must say….

I really enjoy having breakfast sitting on the deck in the mornings… 🙂

Such a peaceful, warm-fuzzy, feeling… 🙂

Mmmm… bowl of cereal with fresh cold milk… raisin bran, corn flakes, quick, and chocolate chips… Mmmm…. 🙂

Morning?

I was going to start by saying “Good Morning” when I looked at my clock and saw it was after 1pm.

Oh boy.

Thus, since it seems time is not on my side today, a quick update and random thoughts:

I was at my parents house for supper on friday when the news came on that Barry White passed away. That was quite the bummer. 🙁 I have to be greatful to Ally McBeal for re-introducing Barry to the world and introducing him to a new generation. I’m glad he got to enjoy some of that before his passing…

Chantale stayed at her parents over the weekend dog-sitting. The kids and I spent the afternoons there enjoying the pool. She came to the house for the suppers and then went back for the overnight.

James finished the 3rd Potter book on Sunday. He was mighty, MIGHTY, pleased with himself, yes indeed 🙂 He can barely wait another week before he can start into Goblet of Fire.

I managed to get out the Church newsletter last night but was a little disappointed in it being only 3 pages as opposed to the usual 5/6. But then again, it is summertime. At least I got our Wedding Notice in there 🙂 Afterwards (midnight), I drove back to my in-laws and spent the night there. 🙂

Today, finally, after 2 months of attempting to put things in a semblance of order, I’ll be able to get back to the gym on a regular basis. I brought my gear with me today and will go sweat after work 🙂 I guess I’ve been away from it long enough because I’m actually looking forward to it!! :>

I got my last certificate today of the last course I took/ completed. I couldn’t believe it was November 29th, 2002. If anything shows that I haven’t had much time to do anything in a while, that certainly proves it!

I’ve got too much paper on my desk. Have to find a way to get rid of it…

Money money money…

So, yesterday I went to see a Podiatrist for the first time. I spent $80 to have a guy resembling George Costanza touch my feet. Bizarre. Especially as he had pamphlets of Jerry Seinfeld promoting supports. Basically, I have good feet with a small tendancy to arch inwards when I walk. This causes the friction that basically causes me to burn through shoes at the rate of a new pair every 3 months. I walk a lot, what can I say? He told me supports aren’t necessary but could help me. The cost? $550. Ha.

That afternoon, I brought James to get his new supports and I spent some time talking with the Podiatrist there (whom I’ve known for a few years – since James got his first pair) and asked him about getting supports for adults. The cost? $325. What a difference, eh? The difference between having an office on Cote-Ste-Catherine with no lab, and having one in Laval with a lab. When the time comes, if I decide on a pair, I know where to go. 🙂

Grass News: It was supposed to come on Monday… he called last night and told me it will come today! Ack! So, after Chantale got home from work, we hopped in the car and headed to Canadian Tire to pick up: 2 lawn sprinklers, a 100 foot garden hose, garbage bags, and a pair of gloves for gardening. The cost? $105.

It’s bloody expensive owning a home.

No, I take that back. The owning part isn’t bad. It’s the “maintaining” part that hurts.

I came in today with a co-worker, discussing the differences between first cars and first houses. I was telling him how strange it was that when we get our first cars, we get used to talking about spending a couple of hundred every now and again. At first it felt like a lot, but then we got used to it. Now, with a house, it seems like everything costs a thousand. Like it’s a magic number or something! Sheesh.

One day it’ll all even out and I can just relax and enjoy it all 🙂

Pottering

James finished reading the 2nd Potter book yesterday. He was totally ecstatic when I picked him up from my parents after work 🙂 It had taken him a long time to get into it (since before last year) but for some reason when he picked it up again this week he couldn’t put it down. It’s really quite nice 🙂 He was just so happy and proud that when we got home last night and got ready for bed, he jumped right into Prisoner of Azkabahn 🙂

It’s quite something to see him, at 8 years old, devouring a book like that. His head was right into it the minute we got into the car this morning as I drove him back to my parents for the day 🙂

In other news, we got home last night to find most of the top soil laid out for the landscape. The guy had actually run out of top soil so he’s coming back this morning to finish off the right side of the house.

I have to say. Our yard is huge. Way bigger than we expected! The kids are going to have plenty of space to run around once everything is settled! The lot looks very impressive now and I can only imagine how much more so it will be once the grass is installed on Monday!

It’s been a rough financial ride getting here, but it’s an incredible rush 🙂

Busy AGAIN!?!?

Every time I look around I realize I’ve been gone for some time and haven’t updated. I’m barely able to get my bearings!!! Work is busy. Home is busy. Wedding plans are busy. Kids are busy. Everything’s busy!!! Wow.

Kids are with me all of this week. It’s been *Really* nice having them there. I absolutely adore tucking them into bed at night and having breakfast in the mornings. I love having them around and really look forward to having the entire week off in two weeks so we can spend it together. They’ve been staying at my parents this week during work days but we obviously were off tomorrow and I have a half-day tomorrow. It’s great… *happy sigh*

We went to the Canada Day Parade yesterday in Pierrefonds as we do every year. It’s always fun (even though no firetrucks this year 🙁 ) and the kids have a blast. Afterwards, we bought some food at Metro and had a little picnic before going off to visit some friends. From there, we went to Chantale’s parents’ to enjoy their pool before heading home for a nice supper. There’s something comforting about having a nice and tasty supper while a big summer storm rages on outside 🙂

So that’s the only update I can give you today. Oh yeah, outside of the fact that the landscaping around the house is beginning which will be nice (i’m tired of stepping in mud 🙂 )

Finally: out-of-town Comicopians: I’ve mailed out your issues last week (have I said this already??). Please let me know when you receive it!
