What a really good weekend this past one ended up being! 🙂 The last weekend in February was celebrated quite well with Chantale not really knowing what to expect. Although we had an evening planned with friends on Saturday night, what she didn’t know was that we were really going to her parents’ place for supper! A little misdirection and “oops”ing on my part until I confessed by calling said friends and discussing on the phone how “we’ll never make it, how about we meet up the following weekend instead?”. Chantale, of course, figured out that she’d been had and promptly punched me in the arm 🙂 It turned out to be a nice, quiet evening which, considering how tired we were, was just great.
Sunday morning, the kids and I made her breakfast in bed and gave her their birthday gift. Afterwards, we spent the afternoon cleaning up around the house and when we were done, we chatted on the couch, enjoying the peace of the house (with the kids playing upstairs with a neighbor). Suddenly, Karine, Adam, and Matthieu show up to squeals of delight 🙂 An absolutely wonderfully pleasant surprise which lasted until midnight (at which point Matt, although still not awake, was bundled into his snowsuit and taken home – Dad did have to work today 🙂 ) Karine, thanks again for coming over – it was really great to see everyone again 🙂
As we finally got into bed (Chantale did have to work today), I decided to give Chantale her gift since it was technically the 28th 🙂 All things considered, I think she was very nicely spoiled with all the attention she received this past week (thanks again everyone for the cards and well-wishes! the smiles on her face was precious! 🙂 )
This morning, I got up early, made her breakfast and packed her lunch and then slipped a birthday card from “baby” into her bag. She didn’t see it until she was on the train and called me at home telling me how I wasn’t supposed to make her cry on the train 🙂 Heh heh 🙂 Happy Birthday, sweet heart! 🙂
